I agree -- i watched (way too much) lots of Carolina this year and I was surprised how poor Hanifin's situational awareness was. Shocked, actually.

So perhaps it was fortuitous that Sweeney was not able to trade his 2015 first rounders to move up to take him.

Not only that, given that Carolina is rumored to have said that Hanifin is available in a trade, it might make acquiring him easier (i.e., giving up less talent in a deal).

By the sounds of it I wouldn't want him, we already have a solid D core for the foreseeable future.

Do the Bruins have a better LHD prospect in the system? I think that Hanifin's ceiling is greater than that of Zboril, Lauzon, Lindgren, O'Gara, Morrow, et. al.

It might be, but I'd rather stick with those guys and trade for young forwards. We need second line wingers more than anything imo

Hard to predict that until Zboril, Lindgren, O'Gara or Lauzon have play a full year at the NHL level as per Hanifin. I agree with the other posters, Hanifin does not play to the level people expect, not sure he will ever get there.

I've been able to watch most of the Team USA games on NBCSN streaming or the network and McAvoy's play has moved between solid and exceptional every game. The last couple of games where he is paired with Skjei have been excellent. It's frustrating to know the Chiarelli Bruins passed on him to select Subban and are now missing that big LD; a spot he would have filled perfectly.

Totally agree. Was very disappointed when the B's passed on Skjei for Pk's little bro...felt it was a very "high and mighty pick" at the time. Didn't like it one bit.

Most entertaining game of the Worlds that I have seen as Canada roars back with 4 in the 3rd, including the winner by Ryan O'Reilly with 3 minutes to play, and a 4-2 win over Russia to once again make it to the final. Will play for gold for the 3rd consecutive year. Russia had built a 2-0 lead after two in what had been an exciting and very evenly played game. They got into some penalty trouble in the 3rd and the ice tilted in Canada's favour.

Sweden - Finland semi up next as the two big rivals go at it once again. Should be another dandy.

"how important was it for you to come back and win this?"

Seriously? What kind of question is that?

Just one time, when a player is asked how important something is, I wish they would respond "why, not at all, Bob. We didn't really need that game-winning goal."

I hope we get Canada - Sweden for the final.

Swedish commentators on the PP: "Bäckström has stood near the faceoff circle for ages now, waiting for the puck. Why are they boycotting Bäckström?"

Literally one second later, he gets the puck and feeds Nylander for a goal. Good question

Great save by Säteri even if Nylander was a bit slow to get the shot off. He's saved three or four great chances this period alone.

The Backstrom/Nylander chemistry is nice. I imagine the Leafs horde are drafting their Gardiner for Backstrom threads already. Welp.

Swedish team D outside of a couple of minutes in the first period has been excellent. 12 shots allowed in 3/4 of the game. It will have to be as good or better against Russia or Canada tomorrow.

And just as I post that Finland creates more chances in a couple of minutes than in the rest of the game combined. Huge hit by Strålman, he just stood him up, with most of the velocity coming from Rantanen.

Figures, Finland takes out the U.S. but lays an egg against Russia. Losing 4-0 with the game less than half over
