Blah.

Every time I hear the Russian anthem, I think of "The Hunt for Red October."

I do feel kinda bad for the guy who it appears tore his hamstring with less than a minute left.

Wow, Canada with several horrible turnovers. Sweden with four-five chances pretty much all alone in the slot, but only got the puck on net twice

Canada better at creating their own chances so far, pretty exciting game

Sweden D needs to stop just backing off. Canada almost Russia-like at creating something out of nothing (3 on 3's with everyone seemingly covered, etc).

Bäckström blatantly slashed on both hands, but shouldn't have held hands with the Canadian, instant call when you've had 2-0 PPs

Nylander with a few good chances that he created on his own, but no dice - good guess though! Canada with the slightly more dangerous chances in OT. Shame it'll go to a shootout.

Agree completely on the SO ending what has been an absolutely awesome game worthy of either team being awarded the gold medal.

Congrats to Sweden. Best gold medal performance by both teams in many many years at the worlds. Shame somebody had to lose. Overall a great tournament. :handclap::handclap::handclap:

Agreed, shame someone had to lose such a tight, great game to cap off an unusually good WC. Pickard impressed me, even if he probably should've saved the goal (though screened)

Pickard and Lunquist both had fabulous games. They faced a combined 80 plus shoots. Lunquist you might have predicted but Pickard was a revelation and noteworthy given how the position has been an area that has been an Achilles heel for Canada a number of years.

Off to Denamrk in 2018. A repeat of this years performance would be terrific. Although do actually prefer the womens approach as they forgo the worlds in olympic years.

I wonder if Hank was able to suppress his urge to complain to the referee that this is goalie interference? :sarcasm:

The youthful exuberance he showed was awesome. Look at that ear to ear grin and laughter! Would have liked to see what Lunquist's expression might have been. Neat moment for both given the lasting impression Lunquist had on Nylander as a very young kid when Henrique would often take time to play road hockey with him. Capped off perfectly with being teammates on a Swedish world championship team. What are the odds. :handclap:
