Before there was Peeke (already under contract) there was Mike Reilly who Sweeney immediately made into a disaster contract extension. We will see how this one works out.
Noted, but RHD are a bit harder to find so I don't see Reilly as the same

I was skeptical of this deal... but the Bs need warm bodies. He looked good in the debut.
Looked good in this game also. Nothing flashy just steady and smart. Seems to have found a partner with big Z.

Honestly, we just got him from a divisional rival for a late fourth round pick in what… 2026? He hasn’t been highly regarded since he broke into the league.
Frankly, I can’t see him making big money this offseason.

AFP updated their predictions, Jokiharju is now up to 3 years at $3.2m.
I want to see a bigger sample, but if this holds, he could be another under the radar homerun for everyone's least favorite GM.

That save by Joker at the blue line to keep the puck onside leading to the first goal was a nice play. I like the way this kid has played in these 2 games, and the way he moves the puck.

I think the key that would make Joker worth it is he elevates Zadorov. Which up to this point, no other defenseman on this team has been able to do.
They really don’t have much RHD in the pipeline and it’s working. I would sign him if this continues.

Oh god yeah, and so far (small sample size) seemingly better than McAvoy at keeping the puck inside the attacking zone. That’s one McAvoy deficiency that really gets to me.

Speaking of McAvoy ,I know he shoots right,Lohrei left ,but I sure hope Lohrei keeps playing big mins ..He has definitely turned a corner .I like what I have been seeing from Joki

No way better than Krug offensively, not even close. A bit better defensively than Krug. Gryz at 25-26 which is what Joker is, no. I guess they could try to get him at
3.1M again if he can play with Zadorov but that would mean a really expensive D corp. at over $30M. With the top 6 needing 2 meaningful upgrades they might not have room.

Offensively Carlo may as well not have a stick in his hands. I have never seen
a more extreme D man NHL version of offense vs defense than Carlo, when he was near or at his peak. Carlo has almost zero offensive ability (his shot can be hard but he can't deliver it more than once every 10 games).

One thing I noticed is Joker is over the top enthusiastic about playing in Boston or just playing hockey in general. He celebrates goals and teammate's fights(Big Z 2.0's) like he's been on the team forever. He was laughing his ass off as Zad went down the runway, calling out Bennet as the P word.
I haven't seen him make too many bad judgement plays and is willing and able to pinch the blueline when needed.
Resign him for sure. A very good 4 or 5 as a Dman.

Good acquisition. They needed a competent right side NHLer to finish out the season. For the cost of next year’s 4th, that’s fine. He has looked good in these two games, but history tells me he might be playing above his level, which is common for the first few games when a player joins a new team.
I don’t see how an extension would make sense though, unless they are moving Peeke. No room for two 3rd pair right side D taking up $2.5 to $3M (or whatever Joki’s next contract will need to be to sign him).
