Absolutely none taken. I would never have said Ullmark was terrible.....but boy did Hall look COOKED when he was with us.

And I don't think Joker is bad....at worst, he's a fine 3rd pair guy.

Just don't play him on the PK if you value your sanity. ;)

Cool, I am interested to see what he brings. We are swapping him in for Carlo who knows 1001 ways to score an own goal, so it seems right if he ends up on the PK

Remember when Taylor Hall was cooked and Ullmark was terrible and we shouldn't have gotten them? Because they played on the long-running hit comedy show called the Buffalo Sabres. Maybe there is more to Joker than Sabres fans were seeing from him. He seemed to play well in 4 nations. And no offense @Zman5778 :D
It also might be a coaching thing, just something about him that Lindy Ruff doesn't like or fit his style.

The previous years in Buffalo under Don Granato, Jokihaju played a lot of first pair minutes, often paired with Rasmus Dahlin. He averaged over 20 minutes per game.

Not sure why they picked him up, I mean the tank is on give Mitchell first d minutes, it will only help

Kind of surprise move. Divers son (dad Juha Jokiharju was pro diving class in Finnish hockey), that needs to be said. :D
Anyway, total opposite we have used to. Does not have size, grit or anything from 80's, that Neely is looking for.

Just cannot see why they did this. Cheap copy of Gryzz and new whipping boy was great way to describe this trade.

As a Sabres fan, this assessment is pretty spot on. He can be a break-in-case-of-emergency PP2 pointman, though he really doesn't bring much in that.

The one thing I will say -- keep him off of your PK if at all possible. While he's not necessarily bad positionally.......I have NEVER seen as many pucks literally go through a guy as I have go through Joker. Like....know how golfers say that "trees are 90% air" before hitting one right into a limb? Yeah....Joker is 90% solid, but the puck manages to find that 10% nearly every time.

But other than that he's perfectly playable.
Well he can replace Carlo who had to lead the league in goals deflected off his body and into the net

Anytime you can gut your team and sell at the trade deadline but can also pick up a mediocre pending UFA using one of the assets you got in the fire sale....well, you have to do it.

We're officially back to the "It's Called Bruins" era. Absolutely indefensible trade.

The Bruins clearly like the player enough to want him under contract for the rest of the season to see if he is worth re-signing. If he shows well over the rest of the games, he earns a deal and Bruins can sign him before he goes to free agency. If not, a 4th rounder that will probably never play in the NHL anyway is lost. It's a pretty small potatoes deal, but the Bruins get a young RD with NHL experience to replace Carlo and maybe they find some gold. Maybe they don't. Joki is not going to prevent the tank whatever happens.

That's what makes no sense to me. Why give up anything for an expiring contract this year
Because they don’t look at him as a rental…potentially. As Hook said, they view him as someone they might be able to help get to his ceiling, which is a first round ceiling. If they like what they see getting a close look on our system this year, they’ll jump on him in FA. If not, they feel the opportunity was worth the risk. They like him enough to invest.

I mean, most on our board view Carlo as a trash one dimensional defensive defenseman. But that defensive acumen just netted a good prospect and top pick.

There’s definitely a gap between the assessment of value between fans and pros when it comes to defensive defenseman.

We're auditioning a guy to see if he's got anything to add to this team in the future in the most minor of trades. Will someone please think of the 4th round pick?
