I think people forget that the Sedins were pretty terrible during that era and they weren't given any help either beign saddled with a plug like Klatt.

That was a one line team with some of the worst goaltendin in the league, the funny thing is Burke and Nonis tried to convince every Cloutier was a starter - what beauty's.
Or that Klatt was a fine 2nd liner lol. To be fair, we were not a team that could spend back then.

Willie has lost the room. It happened during that big trip I think. Maybe before but that was when it really manifested itself. Might be some divisions in the room as well.

I think he lost the team in the Playoffs when he just rolled the lines.

Oh my god. I just ate what I thought was a green bean that came with the veggies in my indian food. Turns out it was a bird's eye chili, a pepper that is about 100 times hotter than a jalapeno pepper. I ate the entire thing in one bite.

Oh my god I think I might die.

I remember a rumour from 2003 that we were going to get Jeff O'Neill - i was thrilled because even at that time i knew if the Sedins had a legit talent like that at RW we would actually have a second line complimenting the WCE.

Burkie never mustered uo the balls and got it done - something all of GM's suffer with sadly.

Not sure. Despite the results not being there they were trying to start the season. They really aren't anymore...with the general, exception of the twins who have dragged this team kicking and screaming to the position they are in. They are the only reason this team isn't looking up at every other team in the league.

Chubarov went back to Russia sucked, he was a staple on the bottom six.

I think that moment was the real end of the peak of that era. I remember he was amazing at the end of his run here. Everyone was looking forward to more from him next season as he showed offensive potential and looked great. Then bounced to Russia and left his car at the arena. :(

Don't forget Salo. And Matt Cooke was great during that era too

Ha, I wanted to say Cooke as well but not sure if that's PC. Salo is in my running for one of the most underrated players of all-time.

pretty much the only thing willie has going for him is that the players play hard for him

without that effort level all of his other flaws become even more exposed

It is time for Willie to be fired. Nothing is done properly to give confidence to the team with his personnel decisiions, even the line-up decision. If I am the coach and I knew that the Canucks is that bad, I would not have played the lazy players who keep on commit turnovers I would also change up my system if I'm the coach. If this system is not working, you better as well learn to adjust. When he finally adjust, it's too late. Every teams are different and you expect to match-up better against anyone. When the opposition scout has caught on, they burn them badly. It is clearly seen here and it's painful to see the coach steadfast refused to adjust his game plan. Sometimes a simple basic game will get back on the winning mode. They are trying to play a complicated strategy that don't work.

I mean if I was a player on the team, I would question the coach when he continues to not line match and bench a line and run the team down in the 3rd period.

I wouldn't say Benning is bad at getting a deal done. You can argue that he's bad at getting a good deal done, but he hasn't shown the same hesitance to get deals done that others showed.
