Last thought before moving on ... whatever the line combinations end up being - at the very least, separate Marchand from Coyle.

I can't help but feel Marchand's production is being hindered with Coyle as his center.

Marchand deserves to play with a center that has natural offensive creativity.

As others also have stated I too would like to see
Marchand Poitras Frederic ... for at least five games to see what would come of it.

I don't care if it is called the 2nd or 3rd line as long as the player combinations work; deployment and how the lines are used is up to the coach.
Make an almost perfection line of 63-28-88

Put Zacha with 51 and 55

11-13-39

Poitras is the key to the season imo. We need a dose of high end skill and he can provide it. Doesn't matter what line he is on to me as long as the pieces click.
He creates scoring chances for his team almost every shift. He reminds of a Marner/Backstrom style player minus the scoring touch those two had. He really needs a good finisher or you are wasting his natural talents and vision on the ice. Coyle needs to go to the 3rd line, where he dominates.

had the record all set on the Betamax for after my return with the mother in law from the ferry to watch the rest of the game but nope, Sportsnet had the Tigers/Guardians tilt on every channel so didn`t get to see squat

Solely based on the few highlights and articles I`ve read, our boys cut down on opponents glaring chances around the net yesterday?

That OT winner by Pasta was a beauty, pass from Lohrei sublime

Yeah, ideally, it would be great if Poitras could step into the 2C role and bring that Krejci-Savard-like vision playing with Marchand, and Coyle moves to 3C where he's more dangerous. But that's two small guys on the 2nd line. Don't like that. I suppose that could make the case for putting Marchand with Lindholm and Pasta, but it's not like Zacha is going to provide that much beef - it really isn't his thing. It would be nice if Freddy or Brazeau could step up to be 2RW, and but some size on that line.

Zacha - Lind - Pasta
Marchand - Poitras - Freddy/Brazeau
Geekie/Freddy - Coyle - Brazeau/Geekie

Please say you are not comparing Pasta to Bobby Orr in his impact?
Come on man. Who on earth would suggest that?

My point is that if someone wants to bitch about Pasta’s shortcomings then their expectations are silly.

If Pasta isn’t good enough for you as is, you ask too much.

Of course you can always you can just hold your breath for a decade or 5 for another Bobby Orr or Sidney Crosby type to walk through the door.

I don't think he is saying that at all.

Could be that I am reading it entirely wrong though.
Thanks Dom. You read my post exactly how I intended.
