I really like Jacob Larsson... watched a lot of him in the SHL and love his game.

But today was just embarrassing for him. One of the worst performances by an individual I have ever seen in a game. Hard to single him out amongst the ****-show of Swedish D... but he gave zero *****, and it was extremely obvious.

Had he simply been benched to start the game Sweden would still have lost, probably by ~2-3 goals... but the score would have been semi-respectable.

Just wow. I know USA & Canada usually have problems to get motivated for bronze medal games, but this time it was another way round. I feel both sympathy and disgust for the swedes - sympathy because their team was better than this (the whole tournament considered), but disgust because most of them just stopped caring after the 2nd. Every time you play for your country it's a priviledge and you should give 110% effort until the time runs out, no matter what the score is. Anyway I hope that the Finnish tabloids can stay classy for once and not mock the swedes for this.

Congratulations USA, you deserved it!

disappointing result against Russia yesterday but overall a very strong tournament for the US, happy they're bringing home a medal at least

That sucked but congrats to USA who were the better team out there today.

This looked good after Sweden tied it in the 1st but then everything fell apart and USA could score on every shot they pretty much had on net ad Sweden just broke down completely which was hard to watch because you know that they are better than they showed tonight but couldn’t find it at all, meanwhile USA were playing really well, heck I even think they could have played better than they did but they did what they needed to do which Sweden did not.

Good job US! Sad that it's not bigger score. Sweden deserved what deserved. Be angry at yourself... teams like that are spoiling the tournament and need to be taught.

Group games and in 1/4 everything went as planned for Sweden. In 1/2 when skilled and super-motivated Finland caused them real problems, they stopped to play. So simple. The same scenario in the bronze medal game. Yes, why to play if it's just bronze? Why to play when it's already 5-2, 6-2, 7-2 for US? Why to play when our country watching at TV and cheering for us? We do not care... but what about anger at yourself? To prove something yourself? To calm down your pride? No...

At least I am glad that there won't be teams like that in the finals. Even if it was US vs FIN I wouldn't mind, would be great final too. But Sweden in finals... no way.

He was a minus 5 today. Englund has a rough game too and finished a minus 4.

Meanwhile Lagesson one of the Swedish goal scorers ended up a +/- plus 2 somehow out of this beating.

The US team did exactly the same thing in the olympics, but then it was ok?

Also lol at people voting in the unclosed poll as the game continued ;).

Ofc because they werent swedes, so they are allowed to feel that way about a bronze game:sarcasm:

Funny how ppl constantely talking about swedes and that they should sloopy jante but when we do it ppl tell us we should shut up and dont think we are something.

Fill me in! Did the refs make all US goals or what happened? :amazed:

Part of the Swedish team didn't want to be there, USA clearly wanted to end the tournament on a high-note. When one team wants to go home and the other wants to play hockey, the numbers usually look bad.

Good job USA.

I expect harsh aftermath for Team Sweden. It simply can't be that way with Nordic National hockey teams in a medal games of the international tournament. That looked very bad attitude-wise. One of best teams degenerated few levels downwards, when it was possible end the tournament with pride. I cheered for Sweden, but... 'the big brother' betrayed all my expectations. :(

What scouts may think when they see that kind lack of morale on the ice?

And no! Finnish people doesn't hate their beloved neighbors, as In a context of Hockey sport that would be totally absurd.

Congratulations to USA. Regardless of who wins i would say USA brought the best team to this tournament.

Nope. USA had the opportunity to bring the best team but they did not have the best team here. I'll leave it at that, very strange to bring several grinders when you have really good players that weren't even invited to camp

Oh, thats a shame. Bronze is better than nothing. I wanted to see the game, but I guess I didnt miss anything.

I always think back to an interview I heard with a veteran Canadian player a few years ago. He was asked about any regrets he had about his career. He said that he had a chance to play in a bronze medal game (I think it was WJC but might have been Olympics) but the team was so disappointed to miss the gold medal game they didn't try and lost the bronze too.

Looking back on his career, he wished they'd given a better effort and won the game. It would have been nice to have a bronze medal to share with his children and grandchildren....

Crazy 8 goals and no points for Matthews.

I'm still pretty sure he touched the third goal, it looked like double-deflection, Borgen -> Matthews -> Boeser.

IIHF is not known for having totally accurate scoresheets.

Congratulations to USA. Regardless of who wins i would say USA brought the best team to this tournament.

There's four teams at the top of this tourney, Russia, Sweden, USA, and Finland. Take any two of them, and make them play 10 times and I bet each team wins 5. Very competitive and even tourney at the very top. Looking forward to gold medal game.

Do you know the concept of building a "team" ? Several grinders ? Good grief

On a side note Canada did a great job putting THAT team together .The U.S. lost two games by combined two goals. The "best" players where no shows in those two loses.

I would say the same thing to any team that deserve it. But let's stick to the 2016 year and what is happening on WJC tournament now. Czech Republic, for example, was even more characterless, it's not team... it's just nothing. Even to Denmark and Switezland I have more sympathy. They lost but in a fight.

Some kids who got crown on their head already ''we do not want to play for bronze'' must be mixed with s**t to realize the reality, so then they will be motivated. You must blame your coach who did not find right words to motivate your talanted team. Like Bragin... 2011 year, final with Canada, losing 3:0, during a break Bragin broke his ipad in super emotional speech. Your coach did not find right words in 1/2 with Finland, but you got all the talant to score at least one in 20 mins. You did not even try.
