Player Discussion Brock Boeser - Brock Around the Clock

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.

Do you trade him if he is trending for 40 goals for an expiring contract and a draft pick? I do if we are out of it at the TDL, but if not we keep him.

1 goal on a goalie since opening night. I’m far from an expert on player evaluation but he still looks pretty bad out there to me. Chasing the play and useless defensively.

I don't really agree with this. I mean he's always going to be limited as a defensive player, but overall I've been happy with his improved work ethic. He's battling, winning pucks on the wall, and giving his full effort. Don't think there's a single game so far where I felt Boeser was in the conversation for worst Canuck, which is a big improvement.

Does this adjustment of expectations come with a matching adjustment of compensation?

So take away his 4 goal game, and take away his empty netter, and he still has 1 goal in 4 games? 1 goal per 4 games is a 20 goal pace over a season, and that's after cherry picking away his other 5 goals.

I'm not sure exactly what you expect of Boeser but he's not a Matthews/Pastrnak/Draisaitl/Ovechkin level goal scorer. He's not going to be consistently putting up 2-3 goals every 4 games, he's not going to compete for the rocket. If we can get 30g out of him that's a huge success and he's well on track to hit that this season.

I really don't see how anyone could complain about his production so far and he's been noticeably more engaged all over the ice.

I don’t think he’s been close to the worst player on the ice, but I think that flukey first game is doing some heavy lifting in how he’s perceived right now. If Garland hadn’t asked for a trade I’d still be firmly on board with trading Boeser first.

He's actually in good shape and winning board battles now. He looks stronger than ever to me. Still slow af at times but so were the Sedins. The key for him is board work and he seems to get it now. Hopefully it lasts.

I still dont consider him as a core player.

Lets not get fooled by a good start here. He is getting prime opportunity to succeed.

He doesnt drive the play enough, nor is he great at finishing to keep.

He needs to be a 40+ goal guy to keep. Kuzmenko basically made him irrelevant.

i think a good outcome is him getting like 30+ goals and then we can trade him for another player that fills a bigger need OR get the assets we can flip like what we did with Horvat.

I think we should take away that 1 goal too.

This is HFboarda after all. Boeser is worse than Hitler here.

2023 stats

51 - 18 - 25 - 43 - (-2)

Came to camp faster stronger and more determined. Quinn Hughes made a point to talk about it as the seasons got under way.

His line is doing the heavy lifting with success. Playmaking has gone to another level and shows a couple forays ever game so far that wouldn't have existed a year ago.

Love to see it

Boeser is a completely different player this year. His speed on the forecheck, boardwork and play through the neutral zone have all leveled up considerably. He looks like a 30G, 65 pt player.

I've been hard on Boeser and was sick of the excuses but so far this season you'd have to just be a stubborn ass not to see the difference in his compete and overall game.

Hopefully he keeps this play up.

Plays like that chance in the first period on the PP is why i cant trust Boeser as a main finishing threat. I still remember that missed open net vs Vegas in game 7. Those goals should be automatic.

I’m fine with this interaction of Boeser. He’s trying and getting himself in good position and isn’t bleeding chances. Looks a step faster and more agile but nowhere near his rookie form. All I want is for him to keep his feet moving because when they do luck follows him around.

I think I'm ready to recant what I have said in the past about Boeser being the one to be traded. Boeser is back!

Haven't seen that PP one timer since his rookie season. Maybe one time in the bubble vs. the Blues? But Miller has bee so good on that spot. This is why movement on the powerplay is so huge with all these weapons.

still think you would trade Boeser over Garland?

it's good to have a new and improved healthy Brock back. That one timer was deadly last night
