Seravalli: Broberg/agent requesting a trade (mod: title updated, Oilers didn’t give permission to Broberg to seek a trade)

Another genius Tyler Wright pick. A random HF poster would be a better head scout than him.
Tyler Wright and Ken Holland destroyed the Wings roster so badly that it took Yzerman 4 years just to get actual NHL players in every slot.

To go a step further: from 2000 to 2018 (Holland's last draft with Detroit), the Wings drafted only 7 players who were legit top-4 D or top-6 F.

At least 6 drafts where not a single player scored more than 100 NHL points.

Busted on 9/11 firsts round picks from 2007 to 2018.

Just an absolute gong show.

The Wings have only three players left on the roster who were drafted by Holland.

So does this mean Holland is too lazy to try and find a trade partner for Broberg? If Broberg gets traded it will be because Broberg's agent did all the work?
Do your job Holland.
In Edmonton players have to trade them selves :sarcasm::naughty:

Sucks, I think this situation is less on the player and more on the team’s handling of their defence. There’s three guys on the left side that aren’t moving so there is essentially no space for him, they tried playing him on the right side earlier in the year and it didn’t work. I personally wish they didn’t sign Kulak and found a more short term solution. I think Broberg is an every day third pairing D man currently, has room to grow. He’s going to do great in another organization that has space for him.

While I agree, he was usually ranked by most around the same spots as Söderström and/or Heinola we should also remember that all these players were usually ranked ahead of Seider

The question remains. Was he a bad pick or is this another Oilers can't develop fiasco? Or both?

Just curious. Who did you have as the Oilers pick?
Me and 99% of the oilers board had a forward in that spot and we were confused by the pick. I saw him play on his draft year and had no idea what scouts saw in him

Just joking because MMC is first post on basically everything.
Ohhh my apologies, I thought you were referencing my point about Broberg’s value and got far too defensive over it. Maybe I should’ve had my morning coffee after all :p

I tend not to notice who makes what post in all honesty, I was just impressed that OP had this up while I still had the Twitter notification showing on my phone!

I think he'll be a good 4/5 down the road. Absolutely a bottom pair guy right now. He's just not better than Ekholm, Nurse, and Kulak so he never plays. He crushed lesser competition last year, I'm betting an analytically inclined team will see that.

Pittsburgh, Columbus, Toronto, Minnesota, or - because it's Holland - Detroit could all make sense.

So yeah, he basically wants out. And lol at Holland handing it off to the agent to do all the work.

Columbus has some disgruntled forwards but they already have too many defensemen. If Vancouver's still looking for one, then maybe Raty. Or perhaps to San Jose for Duclair at 50%.

If Holland/Jackson were so inclined, they should try for a bigger deal with the Sharks - Campbell+Broberg+1st+1st+? for Blackwood

And people wonder why Detroit's rebuild has taken so long and why Yzerman had to start from square minus 5.

It's truly entertaining watching the "Lol Yzerman's had FOUR WHOLE YEARS" crowd, considering what Holland left him with. Anthony Mantha was our 2nd best player and our top two prospects were Zadina and Veleno.

When you consider that, the fact that we're currently in a playoff spot is honestly remarkable.

How about Broberg for Maroon?

The Wild could then start shipping off the old guys on 1 yr deals (Goligoski and Bogosian retained should still fetch late round picks from a contender looking for veteran depth). They then get to test drive Broberg for the remainder of the year and see if there’s a player there.

For us, we get a familiar face who seems to be a magnet to the Stanley Cup.

I don't think he wants out because he's angry at the organization or anything, but he's just not getting a chance to play. Makes sense he would want to go to a team that could get him in the lineup.

There was a minute last January where I thought he might establish himself. Sadly, he's a square-peg in a round hole.

Someone could get a buy-low that pays off as a 4-5 defenseman somewhere down the line IMO.

Would the Oilers be interested in a lightly used Nils Lundkvist or Ty Dellandrea

Most logical trade will be for another high pick from the 2018, 2019, 2020 or 2021 draft that hasn't taken off with their club.

Hendrix Lapierre,
Mavrik Bourque
Brendan Brisson
Tyler Boucher
Isak Rosen
Carson Lambos
Fedor Svechkov
Oskar Olausson
Zach Dean

and so on

Dellandrea :naughty::naughty:

Bourque is having an amazing AHL season. Doubt the Stars give up on him before he's had a shot at the NHL level. Team is just too deep up front this year

Him back with Bourgault in Edmonton would be cool to see tho

Yikes... Lundkvist fall off that quickly?

He hasn't been amazing by any means but DeBoer clearly isn't a huge fan, that's the most important part. Panics too much with the puck in his own zone. In the O zone at even strength though he's been solid.
