4 straight wins, eh? 6 of the last 7 with the W?

Things are getting exciting on the farm.

Yesterday's game was exciting. Down 2-0 in the first, the period ended with them up 3-2. Then down 4-3 by the end of the second and 5-3 by the middle of the third. They tied it up and took it to OT.

Czarnik with 1-2-3 in the game, but all came on the final three goals. Clutch.

Do we finally have an AHL squad that has the makings of a serious run?

- Strong and productive vets up front.
- Several productive prospects of note.
- A deeper, capable blueline.
- A goaltending tandem that, well, should be as good as any in this league.

But is the winning sustainable?

The regular season ain't over yet...

BTW, for those watching, does Durandeau kind of look like Beauvillier out there with respect to size, build, and skating style?
Maybe in size and build but Beau is faster with a shorter stride and better straight ahead speed with better agility.

I compare Durandeau to a Parrish-type. Gets a lot of Garbage goals as he is always around the net and has super quick hands.

Salo was very active offensively yesterday went 1-2-3 with a +3 and 7 SOG. Looked like the prospect that we saw at the beginning of the season. Looks like they had him focusing on defense (duh)for most of his time in BPT so the chances haven’t been there lately.

His goal was him joining the rush and beating the goalie on a 1-1. Really great to see that speed from the backend. His first assist was from a wrister from the point that was tipped in by Czarnik and his 2nd was a. point shot that MDC wound up scoring the tying goal with seconds left in the 3rd. He was the main man out there at the end of the game trying to tie it up, great to see him coming through.

That game should’ve been much closer but the Bolduc-Cornell pair had a rough night going a combined -5. I think it was more due to Cornell’s defense than Bolduc. They need Hutton or Wotherspoon back to solidify that d.

This team looks like they’re on a mission and is having fun doing it. Should be exciting to watch them down the stretch.

Haven't watched him in BP, but loved him in his last year with the Mooseheads. He had a high motor and decent hands.
I’ve posted about him but he is legitimately the most improved player in Bridgeport, he could be a bottom six NHLer as he skates well enough, has some puck skills and touch around net and plays with good energy. He’s similar in a way to Cizikas and I could see him in their plans as a bottom six, cheaper home grown option. Holmstrom has also played well in last 20 games or so and is showing himself to be an option for further up the lineup down the line at nhl level.

Mike Cornell is a pair of fists in skates.

Why??? Wasn't he playing?
Not regularly. Same as we did with Thomas Hickey. Loaned him to the Ontario Reign a couple of weeks ago. Hickey was BPT’s 8th defenseman and not dressing most games.

No place for them in the organization and we hope they catch on with another team.

I know it’s low bar to qualify for the AHL playoffs but let’s put this to bed.

Baby Isles lost 9-2 yesterday to one of their rivals for the last playoff spot. The Isles even scored the first 2 goals.

They still have the 8th lowest league wide point scoring percentage though that’s slightly better after a fairly good stretch recently.

Hopefully some of the youngsters win a few more games, score some points and most of all don’t get injured.

Not quite ready for bed yet. The B-Isles still have 1 more game left with the WBS Pens. However they have a better chance of catching the Hartford Wolfpack as they've been in a freefall for the last 2 weeks. Isles 1 game left with the Wolfpack close out their season at home with them on the 23rd.

Fortunately for Bridgeport they have 3 games left with last place Lehigh Valley. The first one is at home today, where they haven't played since March 19th.

Is it tough road to hoe for Bridgeport? 100% it is. But they have a better chance of catching the last playoff spot than their parent club does and the pipe dream a couple of posters here have of the Islanders catching the Capitals.

Here's the AHL playoff picture. To write the Islanders off would be premature.

Prior to yesterday’s debacle I was pleasantly surprised by their recent play. I’ll try to channel your positivity but I’m not really feeling it.

Playoff experience, even brief, would be great for the younguns.

They had 1 bad game. I can look past it. Hutton is up, Wotherspoon returned after missing the last 6 games and might be a bit slow to catch up. Skarek is inconsistent, and Schneider had been the better goalie recently. Might not be easy for the B-Isles if they have to ride a Skarek-Appleby tandem.

Yesterday was just a old fashioned butt kicking, they got lead and seemed to let up and it never got reeeled in. They have played so well lately I’d hope they bounce back today.

Need to bounce back.

The game against SWB and the three against Lehigh all need to be won. Those are basically 4-point affairs.

As well as the finale against Hartford. They’re 2-8 in their last 10 and sinking like a stone. They might legit fall to the last playoff spot.
