Gonna miss him, we made a mistake......... didnt give him enough time, jesus himself couldnt have turned the ship around either with the abomination that burke inherited

just one more reason to ****ING hate rogers and bell

He told Theo Epstein he had no idea what it was like as the GM as the Leafs??? That's a shot, all Theo did was take a team that had not won the World Series in 86 years, and win!

If it was a shot, it was at himself, not Theo. Not only that, but it's the truth. Since Theo won, he has no idea what it'd be like to be a GM of the Leafs.

Why is everyone hating on ownership? There was nothing wrong with what they did other than the awkward timing.

Whether you liked Burke or not, you have to admit things are going to get a lot more boring on the media front. He left the way he came. Brash, outspoken, and always a great interview.

The shot at Simmons was classic.

Wow Brad May pinned the problem on Ron Wilson, for the team's bad play and said it would have been a different outcome, if Wilson had have been fired 3 years ago.

I really don't understand this Burke Cult of Personality. He didn't deliver on the ice!

He meant that even though the Red Sox are such a high profile team, the Leafs are much more of a higher profile.

Probably because the Red Sox compete with the Patriots, Celtics and Bruins while the Leafs don't compete with anything. They consume the entire spotlight.

I can see Burke joining Boston's front office.

BOOM.

That would be epic...epically weird. Imagine being in the organization with Seguin and Hamilton? If only he could thank his past self lol.

But ya, him coming to Boston wouldn't happen.

Because 4 years minus 5 months of lockout is not sufficient time to build a team. You can ask Dean Lombardi or Glen Sather for confirmation on that...

Damn, I turned LeafsTV off right after Burke left. What'd he say?

It was on sportsnet actually. He said Burke was being hypocritical by saying himself, and the players didn't get the job, while he said RW did a good job. May said during his time there, he felt the players did not play as well as they could have - seen by some players doing well after they left the leafs.

He was basically trying to say RW was a massive failure with the Leafs and the players, and Burke failed to deal with him at the appropriate time.

THIS ****** NEEDS TO GO

So tired of seeing this slimy man. As a TFC fan, I've seen enough of him, and now he has a more prominent role.

I wouldn't even call the BoSox the most high profile team in the MLB. The Yankees and even the Dodgers now are higher profile.

I really wish burkie had to the end of this season. The ownership is annoying with the way they handled this. Firing burke just cause they don't like him, not based on quality of product. Things are going to change in the organization which is scary.

One of these board members made a mistake...

http://www.mlse.com/inside_mlse/board_of_directors.aspx

Look at who joined the board recently (like Mary Ann Turcke) and you will find the meddling ego-maniac who has interfered on an epic scale with hockey operations...

I'm guessing whoever it was, they were offended by Burke's loud personality - and really felt that they wanted to show who was boss...

No doubt that in the concentrated area that is the team's home, Toronto takes the cake. But the Red Sox are far and away the bigger franchise in terms of internationally and even nationally. Red Sox Nation is gigantic as annoying as it is.

Things can only change for the better. What's the worst that could happen? That they actually stay a bottom 5 team for another 10 years?

I'm quite sure the rules say any contract must be honored in full regardless of anything else. Is that not correct?

Depends on the termination and exit clauses built into that contract. If Burke were to take a role with the Bruins front office, do you think MLSE would still be paying him to work for a competing organization? Talk about conflict of interest.
