This has me scared. I really, really, do not want an interfering ownership group. Burke had control and I liked that.

This. He hasn't reached the end result as quickly as I would have liked, but he had 100% control over what he was doing. Very strange indeed. Something smells.

In other news. Alex Anthopolous has been named General Manager.

Happy Days!!

Toronto Maple Leafs have apparently fired Brian Burke as general manager. Working on official confirmations.

:handclap:Yeeeeeehaw.....Awesome news. Love it.

Why? So he can do more damage? He'd be a lame duck anyway. The guy is a total clown with no track record here except for blunders, failure, and sound bytes.

Bring in a new guy now to right the ship and get accustomed to things before the offseason. It's not like many moves can be made now on a shortened season.

Except it won't be 'a new guy'. It will be Nonis. He will continue what Burke has done, only worse.

I WAKE UP To THIS SH**!! WTFFFFF IS GOING ON!!!!! WHAT A SHOCK CALL!! WOW WOWO WOWOWOW

The timing of this suggests it was a reactionary move by ownership...ie, they tried to intervene and he said "my way or the highway" and they said highway.

Really don't like this.

Hey Brian, you are so close to getting this team to the playoffs..... BYE BYE

There is a lot of questions that keep running through my head, and there has to be more to this story

Exactly. This could be bad. Could not be bad... but could be bad.

I wonder if we're entering another time of organizational in-fighting like in the mid-1990's.

I would guess that Burke and the new ownership didn't see things eye to eye. But why one earth would the Leafs leave it until now?
