Scoring goals like crazy is a bit of a stretch. We beat up Tampa and the Islanders, two teams with below average defense and shoddy goaltending, and squeaked out a SO win in Boston while giving up 40 shots on goal.
I think if the Rangers had a replacement for Boyle lined up, or if he was garnering any interest in trade, something would have been done by now.
Clearly the return of Boyle was to blame for our losing streak and not the fact that our best forward was injured and we were missing 2 of our top 4 defensemen at points. This board cracks me up.![]()
I agree 100%. Some of you guys need to get off of Brian Boyle, he's a good 4th line center and he is what he is. We should utilize Halpern on the 3rd line, he's looked good this year. If we have problems, BB is a minor one we should address. Get off the guy
BB had some huge goals in big games for the team last year, we likely may have been eliminated by Ottawa if it wasn't for his offense in that series. Don't forget that, and don't denounce the guy after 20 games this year. It's a very small sample size
But you can't deny the fact he's been slotted in the 3rd line, even 2nd line with ****ing Gaborik. Marion ****ing Gaborik!!!!!!!! Gabby could go coast to coast twice before Boyle could catch up with him. I don't hate the guy, but he is the teacher's pet so to speak.

They already have a bunch of replacements in Hartford. The addition of Powe makes him truly expendable. Powe, Halpern, Cally, Stepan are all adequate on the PK.
Trade him for defensive depth. I suggested Boyle for Yannick Weber on the trade board. Weber has a shot and can play the PP. Get it done Slats. Steal another one of their blue chip prospects while you're at it![]()
If we are going to talk about a full season, Boyle was anything but good last year up until the last few weeks.
Three goals in 47 games....For a Center who played almost 15 mins a game. While I'm all for the team concept and being a link in the chain, the Rangers will survive and contend with or without Brian Boyle.
He's truly amazing.
He's easily the most visible invisible player this fanbase has seen in a long, long time.
There's always one bottom liner a few will always defend to the end. I dont get it.
How is that relevant now? You have to go back three seasons for a year he outscored Boyle, and 7 seasons for the last time he cracked 30 points.Halpern 3L Center, Powe 4th line Center. Halpern has shown some good wheels and puck pursuit and has actually scored over the course of his career.

This is why we should've signed Konopka in the off season

Who has 1 more point in his 266 game NHL career than Brian Boyle had last season. He is another 4th line center.....
I still haven't forgiven you for switching cults...I think what normally occurs is there is a cult-like group here who just reinforce eachother over and over and over.
Boyle does piss me off lately, but to have such a lengthy thread on him is ridiculous.
It's like getting in a car accident, and having the EMT's treat the zit on your face first.

I don't think there are many who would disagree with this. His most fierce supporters think he's played very poorly but there's no reasonable alternatives. This is where I am at too. he needs to play MUCH better than he has. I think as a 4th line center he would be fine. Decreased ES time is needed.
Everytime Boyle falls down the Rangers lose a point in the standings.Which is exactly what I think Boyle is, but Konopka is grittier, better on draws, and plays a more consistent game. He also doesn't fall over every time the wind blows. Boyle is the biggest guy on the ice most nights and he's constantly on his ass.

If you think Boyle is bad offensively you should watch Konopka on a regular basis.
