Lindgren and Fox paired together for two successive WJC competitions--one is a very offensive oriented and the other more physical and defensive. I like Lindgren and 'vanilla' is not the first word that would come to my mind when it comes to describing the way he plays. He certainly isn't a big guy but he plays a pretty aggressive style. He had 4 or 5 fights this year and most of them came from players that were looking to get even with him for something he did. He's got a nasty edge to his game.

I think the biggest thing lindgren has going in his favor is that he adds a dimension that some of the others don't...he might not have as high of an upside but when looking to round out the blueline to be complete and not just the 6 best individuals, he brings something to the table...

you also don't need 3 pairs of horses that can handle 25 minutes a night...nothing wrong with a 3rd pairing guy that can handle 15+ minutes and then use that 'extra' top 4 guy that doesn't fit in the top 4 in a trade

People say he’s not big, but I disagree with that to an extent — he’ll never be a monster, but he’s got a much thicker frame than most of the other D the same size in the org. Serves him well in playing that game. Others in the 5’10”—6’0” range may try it, but they simply don’t have the same heft.

He’ll never profile as a top pairing guy, but he may carve out a long career as a gritty bottom four Dman .

The Fox Conspiracy: Gorton already had Fox locked up when he traded for Lindgren

He has a lot of people to climb over to be a part of the long term future here ie DeAngelo,Miller, Hajek, Lundqvist,Skjei, Fox, Pionk, Keane and maybe even Gross or Day. That's a tough hill to climb imo. If he does that then they would be either wonderful as he exceeded my expectations or disastrous as the other players failed.

No, just buy out Staal and we have a good spot for Lindgren. Skjei might also be traded in the near future.

I’ll continue to say that Lindgren reminds me of exactly the type of defenseman the Nordiques/Avs seemed to have an abundance of in the mid-90s.

i'm hoping you mean post move to denver when they were winning cups and going to the conference finals...and not pre-move when they were picking 1st overall every year lol

Most of those guys either play a different side or are irrelevant for another year+

Plus one, sometimes I don't know if its Uwe Krupp that is playing or Ryan Lindgren is playing even if the roster states that its the later... ;)

Sometimes I almost forget just how young some of the talent was before the move.

Forsberg was 22, Foote was 24, Sakic was 26, etc. etc.

Hopefully they traded that guy Sakic then. So he did not fill a spot were a kid could play. Or gave him an anchor of a UFA contract.

Id say Lindgren is a terrific depth piece to have. Injuries happen, you need guys to step in who won't hurt you.
I think he is much more than just a depth piece. Again, he is the only Rangers prospect who proactively defends the net. Not reactively.

Buying out staal is a horrible idea until the end of next season.

That's actually a pretty damn good theory.

You know fox wants to come here. You scout him and notice his partner last year. You come away extremely impressed with his individual play and their game as a pair. You keep tabs on lind all year. You trade with Boston specifically with lindgren and fox in the front of your mind
