The greatest 39+ years old season is held by 40 y.o. Gordie Howe, who had 103 points in 76 games back in 1968-69 NHL season! 39 y.o. Ovi still has to work to even come close that.

From NHL.com

"Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin (10 goals, 10 assists in 16 games) had an assist to join Gordie Howe (six goals, 18 assists in 1968-69) as the second player 39 or older to record 20 points through the first 16 games of a season."

These random stats are so stupid. What Ovechkin is doing is incredible, but I question this (not aimed at you): why even mention "through the first 16 games of a season"? Such a random number.

Yep. Here are the best age 39 seasons in NHL history in terms of points:

1) Howe - 82
2) Bucyk - 81
3) Oates - 78
4) Whitney - 77
5) Beliveau - 76

Howe also has the record with most goals for an age 39 season with 39 goals.

Bucyk is second with 29.

How is Crosby looking? Any chance of him scoring twice against the Sharks tonight? Was thinking about placing a small bet that he'll hit 600 career goals tonight.

6 goals in 19 games and has scored in 4 of those 19 games.

No goals in his last 5 games so is due to score.

If he gets one early tonight then he will be on the hunt for #600.

Yeah he should hit it soon. Just lost 100 bucks betting that he would score 2 against Columbus. Crosby had his last 2 hat tricks against Columbus so I figured he would get hot, especially since Mcdavid had just stolen the spotlight with his 1000th point. Figured Crosby's ego would kick in and score twice but it didn't happen...
