I’m no Chiareli fan but how was he gifted anything in Boston? He made two of the biggest UFA signings in history with Savard and Chara, then one of the most lopsided trades with Raycoft for Rask. The man was gifted a stacked Boston team -- and cut their window short.
He was then gifted a (theoretically) even more stacked team in Edmonton -- and broke the window before it was even opened.
The man should never be a GM again -- ever. He has an awful fetish for playing vets and fourth line grinders 2-4 times what they're actually worth, and wrecking the cap in the process. Cause "trades are hard".
Yeah there are only two GM’s available in the whole world. Anyways, I think Staios or Darche have a better chance of becoming GM than Chia. The "fire Dorion at all costs" crowd is awfully quiet right now...
If he is connected to the owner he will be president of the Sens which is amazing. When Smith and Pierre are fired 20 games in when the team again looks mid, Chia will assume GM responsibilities and bring in his own coach.

The Seguin to Dallas trade was hilairiously bad, but he made the Kessel trade in the first place and it was Sweeny who ended up trading Hamilton out.

Eakins was a MacT hire...Dallas Eakins carrying water all the way to parliament building baybay
Old boys club joke…but yes you are correctEakins was a MacT hire...
Unsure what role he’ll take in Ottawa. Fortunately for Sens fans he won’t be the GM, keep him as far from decision making as you can. A good role for him would be Janitor.
Guess you haven't been paying very close attention to Dorion. He absolutely would be worse. Chiarelli's run with the Oilers was one of the worst stretches of GMing ever witnessed in the modern era.
Chiarelli signed chara man. What are you talking about lol. It was controversial because he was just with Ottawa in the first place. He actually did none of those things. It was Interim GM Jeff Gorton. The chiapet keeps getting credit for those cause he was the GM when the Bruins first stepped on the ice with the players in question. When Chia took over He had Chara, Savard, Bergeron, Marchand, Rask, Lucic, Thomas,, Krejci and Kessel to start with, either already on the team, or down in Providence ready to come up.
The Kessel trade only looks exceptional because the Leafs unexpectedly tanked that year and the pick wasn't protected. If the Leafs don't tank, it was a middling trade at best. I actually blame Chia less for the Seguin trade than the rest of Bruins management and even Seguin himself, since it was Seguin's actions that forced the trade the first place. I do blame him for the return, but even the return would not have looked as bad as it did if Erickson hadn't got hurt (and really never recovered).
Yes I have. Dorion has made plenty of bad moves. Chiarelli is generational. There is a difference.Guess you haven't been paying very close attention to Dorion.
