maybe if we made Dion play his natural side and less minutes? then maybe he wouldn't be quite a problem?

In a cap world you can not afford to let your $7m dollar man play less minutes since that would mean some other guy would play those minutes and have a legitimate argument for a pay rise.

They have to take an honest look at the team. Fundamentally it is ok but it's the non core parts and Dion that are the biggest problems.

This team can easily be righted with seemingly small changes. We are no different than Edmonton just older.

You could almost gut the bottom six and 1/3 of the top six and then work the D out.

Fundamentals are there

Kessel elite scorer with non existent 2-way play
JVR top level wing and very streaky
Kadri a talented young C who is dumber then he looks and he looks pretty dumb
Bernier an elite tender seemingly
Rielly a future top D
Gardiner a talented rover
Gunner is a rock...solid but nothing to build on.

We can totally do this it's identifying the supporting staff and insulating our core with sound players who are determined and confident and sure of what they are doing on the ice. The team is half broken.

Fixed it for you.

phanuef the new komiserk

clarkson the new connolly

franson the new finger, if we sign him

bolland the new grabo, if he signs :)

HE SHOULD OF TRADED HIM BEFORE THE DEADLINE, FOR PLAYER PROSPECT, 1ST ROUND PICK.

PHANEUF WILL GET WORSE AS THE YEARS GO BY.

7 MIL COULD BECOME A 5 - 6 DEFENDER

NONIS SHOULD OF THOUGHT OF THE FUTURE,,,,,, 3 YEARS DOWN:nod::)

NOW WE ARE STUCK WITH HIM, ANY DEFENCE BETTER THEN HIM WILL DEMAND 8 MIL +

nope sorry ,you just don't get it do you

just like all our pending UFAs at this TD

No moves are allowed that threaten our chances to "just make the playoffs"

you don't try to meat ownerships primary goal, then you risk termination, it's as simple as that.

cant take anyone who defends clarkson seriously. On top of that, your using the classic they never played hockey arguement. Are you blaming the media for the reason clarkson sucks? And somehow its relevant if they played hockey or not?

Figure it out pal. The Leafs go through more coaches, assistant coaches and GMs than any team in the NHL. Mostly because of the jack ***** in the media demanding they be fired. Shanny will be tarred and feathered and considered useless with in five years because the media people in Toronto will demand his head after the first two years of his tenure. None of those fools will apply for the job even though they know more about running a team than real hockey people. He will be there for the 50th anniversary of not winning the cup. That will be his legacy. Toronto has more armchair GM's than Carters have liver pills. Nothing will change. Clarkson will do okay once he leaves the team.

so,,,, nonis really thought this team was good enough to make it?

then he should be fired for poor evaluation of his players.

if it was the coach, then keep the team try with a new coach, which one is it?

he knew all his players and how good they are:nod:

other, keep coach and players, try try next year;)

shanahan will want an explanation:nod:

tell me?:)

Well I have to ask, IF Dion is burnt out now how the heck would he ever managed the 23/25 more games it would take to win a friggen cup?

We have not even started the bloody, REAL GUT CHECK SEASON!

He wouldn't. I would trade him for what ever we could get. If that would be a high pick or a good prospect then great, it if is nothing impressive at all that at least won't hurt our cap long term I am fine with that as well.

Nonis was being a good little underling, doing what he could(without completely trashing his reputation, see JFJ jr about that) to accomplish his bosses main mandate

"just get us into the playoffs"

if we trade him , it wont be nonis, he will be fired:nod:
if nonis stays then phaneuf stays:nod:

nonis wont ruin his name, after he signs a player:nod::)

what the heck do you mean by puppet 67?

almost everyone answers to someone at their work place

are you acting like a puppet for trying to implement the goals mandated to you from your boss?

because that's grounds for termination.:naughty:

Why didn't Detroit go after Shanny when they lost Yzerman?

Because we have Holland, who doesn't appear to be going anywhere, and because Detroit doesn't hire people without some experience.
Shanny does have a lack of experience but I can tell you this...he's a winner, he's as tough as they come, he's a good guy that did a ton for charity while he was here, and was involved with the community. In short , he does everything that hard working positive, successful people do.

IF fans give him a couple years, you will see results, positive results. Knowing what we know about him in the D, you guys will consider yourselves lucky to have him.

The quintessential failing of the Toronto Maple Leafs is scouting, drafting, and development.

Mediocre coaching? Personell can overcome that (Randy Carlyle & Anaheim)

Sub-par core with no FA options? Drafting and Development has your fix.

Cap-strapped with not many options? Develop your youth.

Too small? Not enough skill guys? No Leaders? Not enough work ethic?

Draft and ****ing development.

Simply put, if one of Shanahan's first moves is not addressing the complete and utter failure of our scouting staff and our player development, then he will already have failed. The true fix to the Toronto maple leafs is overcoming the endless impatience of the fan-base and sticking with youth and draft picks that will evolve into our future core. Don't rush guys, take your time, develop them right.

:help::help:u kiss a** ,,, not me:nod::)

burke did not do that,,,, thats why he can still find a job:nod:

you will be thrown out to the crub, once they dont need you no more with a bad reputation :)

so shanahan is going to be a puppet to, whatever his bosses tell him he better do it:) or else

mlse tell him who to sign, who to trade for and how much a player should get?:) who to fire or hire?

Yeah we know, he lived here all his life up until he got drafted. We just lent him out to the world. Welcome home Shanny:)

I'm not necessarily saying Deboer would be a good fit here, but I wouldn't write him off based on the parting thoughts of a handful of Devils fans. It's pretty rare for a coach at the end of his tenure to be considered 'good'.

EDIT: not that we don't appreciate the Devils fans dropping in to give us their input :P

Ha! That was the general opinion when the NJ fans warned you about Clarkson. The gist was 'We know he won't score 30, but 15 and a good steady grinder and a tough to play against guy will be just fine."

Is that what you got? Don't listen about DeBoer either.

maybe if we made Dion play his natural side and less minutes? then maybe he wouldn't be quite a problem?

Daisy, just look at the press and the fans reactions to the poor guy. Dions cooked here after that failure to post game. It was a really awkward cowardly thing for a captain to do. How do you save face?

If he didn't have a C sure, I find he does perform better when playing less minutes. I just think he sort of let everyone down and himself an I'm not sure he will be able to bounce back. He may actually request trade in this case.

hrmm lets see a ki$$ a$$

we are talking about real world money and the likes, ya?

Mr Nonis to MrS Nonis

"Ya honey, I,,, ahhhhh just turned down a new 5 year 7 million dollar contract from the leafs"

Mrs N "ummmm why?"

DN " ummm well, they asked me to build a team that can get into the playoffs"

"click"

he has a better chance of getting another job being labelled "insubordinate"?

hrmm we live in different realities , whats the weather like there?

it sucks here.:p:

Well Daisy I hope you realize he played his "wrong side" even in jr. So it's been quite some time since he played his natural side. He probably sucks more over there and that's why he has always played his wrong side.
