I don't disagree but we can count on our two collective hands the number of games where he had real, material impact
Certainly true but a 4th?
That's brutal

For sure. And I think it may happen. But they’ll move guys first who bring back a return. They’ll let Howden go without a second thought when it becomes even mildly necessary. Is what it’s looking like, to me.Howden doesn’t need bites to be sent to the abyss
It never did LMAO. Players love to talk like it did but look at the stuff going on the 80s and 90s, even with guys like Probert around there "protecting" the stars. BS. Dirty stuff every game, especially the stickwork...Deterrence doesn't exist in the modern NHL.
I'm not necessarily a can but the Rangers led the league in fights last year and are tied for first this year.I'm necessarily a can but he answered the bell when he needed too.
Who does that now?
JG putting all his cards on Smith?
Who can't even handle an NHL shift on his best day?
The DeAngelo situation is still a head scratcher for me. Things were good enough with him and the team to give him a new big contract and then three weeks into the season he’s persona non grata. Doesn’t add up. So bizarre. This year has been disappointing to say the least. Coaching is a big issue. Nothing for Deangelo. Nothing for Lemieux.
Oh god didnt even think about that. For that and him being the extra skater sometimes this deal is 100% worth itThe real question is how will the PP2 ever recover from losing a critical member of that unit?
The world may never know
That is an underwhelming return to say the least
We pray to the lord, amenFor sure. And I think it may happen. But they’ll move guys first who bring back a return. They’ll let Howden go without a second thought when it becomes even mildly necessary. Is what it’s looking like, to me.
Maybe because we don't see behind the scenes. The DeAngelo situation is still a head scratcher for me. Things were good enough with him and the team to give him a new big contract and then three weeks into the season he’s persona non grata. Doesn’t add up. So bizarre.
I think the main problem with the Trouba deal is simply that Fox and Lindgren and Miller all stepped up big time since it was signed. A huge need became a luxury. The ceiling with the Trouba contract is a C+. It's such a dagger.
I agree, like, 99%. The game people fondly recall when they're talking of guys who were deterrents was dirty as f*** and every team had several guys who would cheap shot opponents all game. Mark f***ing Messier would butt-end, spear, slash ankles, throw elbows, etc. He was never really deterred. No one was.It never did LMAO. Players love to talk like it did but look at the stuff going on the 80s and 90s, even with guys like Probert around there "protecting" the stars. BS. Dirty stuff every game, especially the stickwork...
The only real deterrence for dirty plays in the NHL are suspensions that hit the wallet. Wilson is losing over 300k$ over his latest hit. That's what going to hurt him, not a guy who maybe could break his nose (which there aren't that many in the league to begin with).
Who gets more? Him, Lindor or Conforto?Making cap space for Howden's extension this off-season.
The fact that he's a master pigeon whisperer makes him all the more appealing and scary at the same time.In all seriousness, Buchnevich is a good example of meaningful snarl attracted to a good player. Works really hard. He's the only guy off the top of my head that I remember ever actually doing anything to Marchand.
Him and Lindgren. Eight more of them please.
It's been well-documented. Search @Edge's posts. The DeAngelo situation is still a head scratcher for me. Things were good enough with him and the team to give him a new big contract and then three weeks into the season he’s persona non grata. Doesn’t add up. So bizarre.
It wasn't a big contract. It was a bridge deal despite coming off of a fantastic season. The DeAngelo situation is still a head scratcher for me. Things were good enough with him and the team to give him a new big contract and then three weeks into the season he’s persona non grata. Doesn’t add up. So bizarre.
Now instead of Lemieux who can grind in the corner or tie up in front of the net, we will have Howden! No one has yet mentioned the biggest benefit of this move:
No more Lemieux on PP2.
Yeah. That’s what I’m saying. Because on face value it doesn’t make sense.Maybe because we don't see behind the scenes.
10 Brett Howdens is worth less than a bag of pucks.Something else has to be coming. And soon.
I'll bet you 10 Brett Howdens on that.
