Rooney and Blackwell combined make less than Lemieux this year and next, I have no issue with opening up some wiggle room cap-wise by jettisoning a known commodity like that.

Stupid. He’s pretty fast, draws penalties and can play physical. If it were a second or something I could live with it but for a fourth it’s such a waste of a decent player who filled a role. The Kravstov stuff is just nonsense, not the same role or place in the lineup at all.

It's not about role or place in the lineup--it's about bonus money and being able to have him on the roster. And again, I bet we see Barron called up before too long. They need their 4th line guys to PK or do something besides agitate.

When we have to play Boston and the Islanders in tough chippy games, let's remember who says he is worthless.

Somehow, all at the same time, on HFNYR:

- This guy is a bum and does nothing and why is he on PP2
- I can't believe they only got a 4th for a bum who does nothing, terrible asset management
- This is David Quinn's doing

I dislike deAngelo and actually will actively root against his future success

But, for the benefit of the organization, maybe we put him back in to rebuild his value a bit.

I really don't want to have to retain salary or take a dead cap hit (buyout) just to let him move on with his career.

Maybe we hope he's claimed in the expansion draft.

I don't think they can, after that "DeAngelo has played his last game as a NYR" line. You can't say that and then bring him back in. You lose all credibility with the room, and it encourages a personality like ADA to act out MORE because he's learned that the consequences are all talk.

The thing with Lemieux is that a lot of what other teams are seeing is what we’re seeing.

You see glimpses of the player you hope he can become, but it’s just not coming together.

Coming into this season guys like Lemieux and Howden we’re going to start hearing the footsteps of guys pushing for their sports. In Lemieux’s case, you’ve got someone like Barron right on the cusp.

We trade a less physical and slightly better skating version of Tanner Glass and the board gets all bent out of shape lol

Lemieux is JAG, why was everyone convinced he would return any value? Didn't we get a two 2s (albeit conditional) for Zucc but a complete non-player is supposed to get them a 2nd?
This board talked themselves into the corpse of Adam McQuaid getting a 2nd rounder.

I wont miss all the dumb penalties and seeing him get manhandled in fights he started. He wasnt like his dad who drew more penalties than he took and skated away to let the other guy meltdown trying to fight him. Also his dad was a much better hockey player. But the point is, lemmy had nowhere near the discipline to be an effective pest.

I don't need to see glimpses of some 2nd line or even 3rd liner. I want to see a 4th liner who sticks up for his teammates, takes the body hard, and can chip in a little on offense. Sure you can find these players on the market but they are usually older players that you know there is no hope for getting any better.

I seriously don't understand this trade at all. If someone offered us a 2nd or something I could understand, but a 4th? What is even the point. Lemmy is the exact player I want in a 7 game playoff series. Now we will be looking for this type of player again come the first trade deadline when we are going to make the playoffs.

I agree that the team could use some more bite but maybe we can try finding someone who brings that while also being a good hockey player. Just a thought.

Like?

I could give a list of players the Rangers have gone through who they thought were just that, and out of the 15-20 or so names over the past 10--15 years there are like 5 players who were both good and tough, and 4 of them were major ass hats.

Again, we lead the league in fights. For the second straight year.

We don't lead the league, we are near the top and who is doing most of our fighting? Lemieux.

It's not the end of the world but for a team with so many young guys, I think it's nice to have someone that can stick up for them if needed.

It's also nice that the opposing defense has to worry about someone hitting them hard. There isn't going to be much of that, at least not anything to be concerned with for opposing defenseman. As someone who played defense, I can tell you this is relevant.

We have 11 fights this year and Lemieux has 3. That's not most.

I can assure you that Brendan Lemieux is by far the guy the opposing defense is least worried about.

Why is it that there always this player that the coach loves and we can’t see it?
Because coaches are human and just like you in your private life have a soft spot for a shit person/coworker that you always thinks can be better and never will because they suck.

I feel like this year he’s been drawing a lot more than he’s taken. In years past I’d agree with you.
