Rooney and Blackwell combined make less than Lemieux this year and next, I have no issue with opening up some wiggle room cap-wise by jettisoning a known commodity like that.
Stupid. He’s pretty fast, draws penalties and can play physical. If it were a second or something I could live with it but for a fourth it’s such a waste of a decent player who filled a role. The Kravstov stuff is just nonsense, not the same role or place in the lineup at all.
Yeah, who are they going to put out with a minute left now?Oh god didnt even think about that. For that and him being the extra skater sometimes this deal is 100% worth it
I dislike deAngelo and actually will actively root against his future success
But, for the benefit of the organization, maybe we put him back in to rebuild his value a bit.
I really don't want to have to retain salary or take a dead cap hit (buyout) just to let him move on with his career.
Maybe we hope he's claimed in the expansion draft.
This board talked themselves into the corpse of Adam McQuaid getting a 2nd rounder.Lemieux is JAG, why was everyone convinced he would return any value? Didn't we get a two 2s (albeit conditional) for Zucc but a complete non-player is supposed to get them a 2nd?
Ain’t it curious they both were on Covid protocol at the same time? ...hmmmmmmmHowden is not getting moved so long as Quinn's here. Quit dreaming.
I don't need to see glimpses of some 2nd line or even 3rd liner. I want to see a 4th liner who sticks up for his teammates, takes the body hard, and can chip in a little on offense. Sure you can find these players on the market but they are usually older players that you know there is no hope for getting any better. The thing with Lemieux is that a lot of what other teams are seeing is what we’re seeing.
You see glimpses of the player you hope he can become, but it’s just not coming together.
Coming into this season guys like Lemieux and Howden we’re going to start hearing the footsteps of guys pushing for their sports. In Lemieux’s case, you’ve got someone like Barron right on the cusp.
I agree that the team could use some more bite but maybe we can try finding someone who brings that while also being a good hockey player. Just a thought.
Why is it that there always this player that the coach loves and we can’t see it?We trade a less physical and slightly better skating version of Tanner Glass and the board gets all bent out of shape lol
Again, we lead the league in fights. For the second straight year.
We have 11 fights this year and Lemieux has 3. That's not most.We don't lead the league, we are near the top and who is doing most of our fighting? Lemieux.
It's not the end of the world but for a team with so many young guys, I think it's nice to have someone that can stick up for them if needed.
It's also nice that the opposing defense has to worry about someone hitting them hard. There isn't going to be much of that, at least not anything to be concerned with for opposing defenseman. As someone who played defense, I can tell you this is relevant.
That is an underwhelming return to say the least
Because coaches are human and just like you in your private life have a soft spot for a shit person/coworker that you always thinks can be better and never will because they suck. Why is it that there always this player that the coach loves and we can’t see it?
I feel like this year he’s been drawing a lot more than he’s taken. In years past I’d agree with you.I wont miss all the dumb penalties and seeing him get manhandled in fights he started. He wasnt like his dad who drew more penalties than he took and skated away to let the other guy meltdown trying to fight him. Also his dad was a much better hockey player. But the point is, lemmy had nowhere near the discipline to be an effective pest.
