Very random trade. Can’t say I’m upset about it. I like the concept of a Lemieux type player but feel like over time, he’s just stagnated as a player and gotten even worse.

Would've rather seen Lemieux in our 4th line than Howden, Blackwell or whoever. But if this is some juggling around with contracts, it is what it is.

Howden is as useless as tits on a nun and for some reason the coach loves him, but I can’t say definitely that Lemieux is better than Blackwell.

I'm throwing out Ginga Papa type likes in this thread. We are without doubt the softest team in the league with this move.

I thought Lemieux had a good game today, he hit everyone in sight. I'm disappointed in this trade.

I liked Brendan for the sandpaper and grit that he brought. I feel like his play on the ice has regressed since we got him. He has 2 goals and 5 assists in 31 games this year. He had 18 points in 59 games last year while being a -14. I think Rooney and PDG bring more game for less money. He was a casualty of his cap hit.

This is clearly a move to clear up cap space and roster space for Kravtsov. Lemieux had a very fair shot here and has mostly been a spare. He lost out to Rooney, Blackwell, Gauthier, Howden and PDG. Can’t really say I’m all that upset about any of those guys being moved over another. Maybe except Gauthier.

As far as the return it is what it is. The market dictates the return. Gorton offers him up and no one wants him for more than a fourth. You either keep a guy you don't want who is potentially blocking better players (Barron) or you take the best offer out there.

If people are losing their shit over the return here, I'm going to hate to see the reaction if we're actually able to trade DeAngelo.

Again, we lead the league in fights. For the second straight year.

It wasn't a big contract. It was a bridge deal despite coming off of a fantastic season.
Fair enough. But it was still a commitment. And now likely a buyout. Since he has zero trade value now. Anyhow, not trying to re-hash this thing. I was just echoing another poster’s disappointment with that situation.

I agree with everyone saying the team needs more physical play--the problem is that you need guys who can do that AND something else. Lemieux, as a guy who didn't pk or really score, was always going to be a luxury on this team. Wouldn't surprise me if this had as much to do with getting Barron up here as it does with Kravtsov.

Lemieux is JAG, why was everyone convinced he would return any value? Didn't we get a two 2s (albeit conditional) for Zucc but a complete non-player is supposed to get them a 2nd?

I dislike deAngelo and actually will actively root against his future success

But, for the benefit of the organization, maybe we put him back in to rebuild his value a bit.

I really don't want to have to retain salary or take a dead cap hit (buyout) just to let him move on with his career.

Maybe we hope he's claimed in the expansion draft.

It's disappointing but we're the third team to part ways with him, and we acquired him knowing the baggage. It was a good chance to take and it didn't work out. Not the end of the world.

Stupid. He’s pretty fast, draws penalties and can play physical. If it were a second or something I could live with it but for a fourth it’s such a waste of a decent player who filled a role. The Kravstov stuff is just nonsense, not the same role or place in the lineup at all.

Not happy with moving him while he was not adding much.

Maybe Howden will now protect everybody

I don’t think a player known for his outspoken political, politics is going to be an expansion draft candidate for a team in a city even more liberal than NYC. Every player is the face of the franchise for an expansion franchise. Tony D. A definite buyout unless a playoff team thinks they need more offense from the back and he won’t shake up their room. Wouldn’t think a rental would have a culture impact but who knows these days.
