Love the quotes by Stepan and Brassard. I'm telling you, the change of scenery did wonders for that kid.

Hanks comments didn't surprise me. What did you expect him to say?, "I'm going to take a pay cut to stay here in NY. Only if I'm worthy to play for this organization."

Dude is going to get payed and he isn't going to tip his hat.

The only thing that did worry me was Staal's eye. I thought he was going to make a full recovery, but it seems its still going to be an issue(even if its a minute one).

Nah, its about accurate. I agree that they have stagnated and I mostly feel its Tort's fault.

The team didn't play like last season.
They didn't look as good as last season.
They finished short of where they finished last season.
To me that's a clear step back.

Torts won't evaluate Rick Nash or individual playoff performance, expects changes in next year's team, thinks Staal, Richards will rebound

Say Hello to Brad lads.

clearly sounds like Richards won't be bought out

They may not have a choice in the matter. I think #1 priority this summer is signing Hank to an extension. Pretty obvious that he probably won't take a hometown discount. So that money is going to be needed as well resigning Step, and McD.

There may need to be house cleaning purely for cap reasons. Boyle may have to get moved for a cheaper internal alternative, as well as a guy like Pyatt.

Wouldn't be surprised if Clowe doesn't get resigned, unless he takes a significant paycut on a short term deal(unlikely).

I think there is a good chance our bottom six has quite a bit of kids next season, out of necessity.

Don't think Hank's going to get much of a raise, if any. Perhaps a couple hundred k. Give him another 7 years at 7M/per.

And Torts saying Richards will have a better season has nothing to do with where he'll have that season.

hasnt he already taken less to stay? hes already making 7m or so, how much more u think he's gonna get

Yeah, I mean he said the same thing about Dubi last season. You got to take it with a grain of salt. Torts has no leverage when it comes to the fate of Richards.

I will say that this summer is going to be probably the most interesting for the Rangers future.

The Rangers may have to come up with a modification to their contending window. May be another 2-3 year game plan. I just hope its with its a new coach. It probably won't be.

It almost certainly won't be. Torts has 1 year left on his contract. He'll get at least the first part of next season, if not the entire season to get this team into a contender.

Torts absolutely has some say in who stays or goes imo. gms and coaches work together

Sure, but he doesn't have any leverage when it comes to Richards. He completely underperformed and the Rangers are going to become cap strapped.

Do you honestly believe that if it comes down to resigning Hank, with Richards cap hit being an obstacle, they won't side with Hank?

The two have nothing to do with one another. Hank is already nearly at the max. Richards staying or leaving won't effect Hank. It very likely could effect our ability to re-sign other guys though.

Aye, looks that way. Babcock is available in another year as well. But my gut tells me Wings will do everything to keep him around.

If Tippet becomes available though, you would think the Rangers should take the opportunity.

Ok, then you can apply what I said to Step/McD. It doesn't really change anything. Both of those guys would have significant priority over Richards at this point.

Remember, Dubi said something effect "This organization hasn't given up on me. They believe I can turn it around next season." Well , that sentiment lasted a whole month before he was traded for Nash.

Want to thank the #NYR fans for their support. Tough way to end the season but the hard work and preparation for next year starts now

No doubt. If they won't be able to re-sign Step/McD then someone else is out...and if it has to be Brad then so be it. Best case Brad will likely have to be bought out next summer anyway...it's just the nature of the new CBA. We can't be stuck with his cap killing contract for the next 7 years.
