Exactly. Clearly this team is not a finished product. There was quite a bit of upheaval this season, and now they need to complete the job. Gotta figure Richards is gone, a couple kids will make the roster out of camp, and a supporting piece or two will be brought in as well to round things out. If Hank wants to wait a bit to see how things progress that's his right. But I'm pretty sure he wants to win here.
I gotta hand it to Richards if he truly does start training next week for the upcoming season.
Sounds like a desperation statement to me. Either thinking that he'll need a new team or be under the microscope with Ranger fans which is not a good place to be.
5mBrassard cites Derek Stepan as guy he learned most from.
6mKreider says left eye was "spicy" after getting hit by stick. Will see eye doctor.
Brassard says he learned self discipline with the Rangers. Said he had lost passion in Columbus.
Yes, obviously Nash isn't being traded. But he didn't show me anything this postseason. If youre the best player on the team aside from Lundqvist you need to show SOMETHING that makes me think you can play in the playoffs. Nash had one or two good games, the rest he was pretty much a no-show for.
I wish Sauer is made available to the media so we know one way or the other.
Read the Daily News today, He isn't coming back. He is done.
NY Daily News article says Sauer is "Not expected" to resume playing. Pat Leonard quote. That's all the attention I plan on giving that rag today.
On the surface, the Rangers appear to be in good shape for negotiations. They currently sit $13.5 million under the adjusted $64.3 million cap ceiling for 2013-14, with 18 players under contract.
Stepan has already pledged his allegiance to the Blueshirts, saying he wants to be in New York for the long haul and end his career there.
The question, though, is how he, Hagelin and McDonagh will split up the pie.
Prior to this season, the case could’ve been made that McDonagh was the club’s clear-cut No. 1 priority. But after Stepan’s stellar 2013 campaign — he led the team in regular-season scoring (44 points) and playoff goals (four) — it’s suddenly not as clear cut.
Throw in the Brad Richards situation, and Stepan — a center — suddenly becomes a vital part of New York’s future.
And this isn’t forgetting about Hagelin, who scored 24 points in 48 games during the regular season and finished third on the team in scoring during the postseason.
One thing’s for certain, though — Stepan has clearly made an impact on this team.
Just ask Derick Brassard.
“Even though he’s younger than me,†Brassard told NHL.com’s Dan Rosen, “he’s one of the guys I look up to.â€

Is Adam Herman connected? Any precedence with him breaking stories?

From what I've been told, Nash has been dealing with both wrist AND back issues.
I agree he stepped up in the playoffs and is a good PK player. I think he would be a good 4th line C for us and PKHe didn't suck in the playoffs though. Has stepped it up every playoff year he has been here so far. If only the 7 million dollar players minus Hank would do the same.
he was very good in the playoffs but in the regular season he is right he was awful besides his penalty killingBoyle, don't be so hard on yourself, you were a beast in the playoffs!

That is exactly where he fits and I like him there. I know he can pot 10 plus with about 25ish-30 pts tops consistently. I actually wouldn't wanna be in management for any of the 30 teams following a shortened season. Everything is a question mark. Remember like 2 months ago George McPhee was asked if he planned on blowing up the caps roster...then they almost got to the 2nd round. Too much craziness.I agree he stepped up in the playoffs and is a good PK player. I think he would be a good 4th line C for us and PK

I agree the lockout screwed everything up IMO. I think The Rangers will have a better year next year. Hopefully Staal will be back, and we have guys like john moore and kreider who i belive will both have big years next year after having some ups and downs in their rookie years. That is exactly where he fits and I like him there.
