"Trade Nash"

LOL this board is hysterical during its lows.

Nash is going nowhere. He performed at a near PPG pace and fought injuries all season clearly, despite what he'll tell the media. He definitely had lingering knee/groin pain as well as the wrist and back injuries mentioned earlier.

The Washington series he was invisible due to being shadowed by their top pair and he had no room to work with. In the Boston series he had many more chances, was creating offense, and was engaged. I'm not worried about him or this team going forward.

Exactly. Clearly this team is not a finished product. There was quite a bit of upheaval this season, and now they need to complete the job. Gotta figure Richards is gone, a couple kids will make the roster out of camp, and a supporting piece or two will be brought in as well to round things out. If Hank wants to wait a bit to see how things progress that's his right. But I'm pretty sure he wants to win here.

The one year gap of prospects really had a huge negative impact on this season. It just worked out that way with the ages/commitments.

There are about 8 new faces joining the organization this upcoming fall (Lindberg, Fast, St. Croix, Nicholls, Allen, Hughes, Kantor and also hopefully Noreau and you never know with Myles Bell who will be playing in the AHL for some team and even Brock Beukeboom who the Rangers can sign for pennies).

That's going to have a direct positive impact on everything and help out with depth/push people out of jobs and comfort zones.

Yes, obviously Nash isn't being traded. But he didn't show me anything this postseason. If youre the best player on the team aside from Lundqvist you need to show SOMETHING that makes me think you can play in the playoffs. Nash had one or two good games, the rest he was pretty much a no-show for.

Hurt or not, it's the playoffs. Deal with it and make a difference. It's not like he had a torn labrum or something that needs to be operated on.

I gotta hand it to Richards if he truly does start training next week for the upcoming season.

Sounds like a desperation statement to me. Either thinking that he'll need a new team or be under the microscope with Ranger fans which is not a good place to be.

Brassard cites Derek Stepan as guy he learned most from.

Brassard says he learned self discipline with the Rangers. Said he had lost passion in Columbus.

I really expected more from him. Nothing crazy...but certainly more than 1 goal in 12 games. If he scored even 4 goals in the two rounds we're likely still playing.

Read the Daily News today, He isn't coming back. He is done.

NY Daily News article says Sauer is "Not expected" to resume playing. Pat Leonard quote. That's all the attention I plan on giving that rag today.

That's true. But do we honestly think his chances of returning at this point are better than a long shot? Sadly, he's probably done. I don't think that's in the camp of baseless speculation now.

Stepan is gonna get paid this summer.
On the surface, the Rangers appear to be in good shape for negotiations. They currently sit $13.5 million under the adjusted $64.3 million cap ceiling for 2013-14, with 18 players under contract.

Stepan has already pledged his allegiance to the Blueshirts, saying he wants to be in New York for the long haul and end his career there.

The question, though, is how he, Hagelin and McDonagh will split up the pie.

Prior to this season, the case could’ve been made that McDonagh was the club’s clear-cut No. 1 priority. But after Stepan’s stellar 2013 campaign — he led the team in regular-season scoring (44 points) and playoff goals (four) — it’s suddenly not as clear cut.

Throw in the Brad Richards situation, and Stepan — a center — suddenly becomes a vital part of New York’s future.

And this isn’t forgetting about Hagelin, who scored 24 points in 48 games during the regular season and finished third on the team in scoring during the postseason.

One thing’s for certain, though — Stepan has clearly made an impact on this team.

Just ask Derick Brassard.

“Even though he’s younger than me,†Brassard told NHL.com’s Dan Rosen, “he’s one of the guys I look up to.â€

It could certainly be which is why he said I will be somewhere. So you kinda can translate that as "buy me out idc, I will just make more money by signing with someone else on top of my buyout= I win.

I didn't want Nash from day one and joined the chant during the columbus game last year. Then slightly opened up to it more and when we got him for the price we did I thought it was ok this might not be bad, I figured before the season this guy has to be the most pumped up player on the team INCLUDING Hank considering the toilet bowl he was in for 10 years. Now I realized why I wanted (still do) Bobby Ryan more then him.

Is Adam Herman connected? Any precedence with him breaking stories?

He writes for nyrangersblog. Was a poster here for awhile. Knows what he's talking about but not sure if he's connected.

From what I've been told, Nash has been dealing with both wrist AND back issues.

A guy from WFAN spilled the beans about his wrist issues, my buddy who has press access told me he's had his wrist wrapped since March. Haven't seen anything about his back before though.

He didn't suck in the playoffs though. Has stepped it up every playoff year he has been here so far. If only the 7 million dollar players minus Hank would do the same.
I agree he stepped up in the playoffs and is a good PK player. I think he would be a good 4th line C for us and PK

That is exactly where he fits and I like him there. I know he can pot 10 plus with about 25ish-30 pts tops consistently. I actually wouldn't wanna be in management for any of the 30 teams following a shortened season. Everything is a question mark. Remember like 2 months ago George McPhee was asked if he planned on blowing up the caps roster...then they almost got to the 2nd round. Too much craziness.

I'd be comfortable with Boyle, Miller and Lindberg fighting it out for the bottom two center spots next season. Unlike most I feel Boyle is adequate for a 3rd line center.

I agree the lockout screwed everything up IMO. I think The Rangers will have a better year next year. Hopefully Staal will be back, and we have guys like john moore and kreider who i belive will both have big years next year after having some ups and downs in their rookie years.
