Breaking: World Juniors to be resumed during summer

Hate to rain on the parade, but it seems a little too early to say it will be resumed. Sounds like it is just a plan at the moment, nothing more, and even that, according to Montén, seems like a long shot.

Fingers crossed though!
 
This isn't the best news. Teams will be more inclined to stop their top prospects from going given how close the tournament is to the start of the seasons.
 
Resume from when it was cancelled? How would this even work? Because you're not gonna get the exact same rosters. There's bound to be injuries, declines, etc.
Does that that mean NHL guys like Raymond can now participate?

There's a lot to unpack here if they go ahead with it.
 
TSN seems pretty quiet on this, and TSN would make a segment on anything WJC related. I'm thinking that it is not officially announced that the tournament is going to resume in the summer at the moment. I'm also not sure how such a restart would work.

So are rosters locked or they going to allow nhl players that aren’t in the playoffs?
Seems like dynamics could change a lot

Wouldn't automatically assume NHL teams would release players they didn't release the first time around.

Likely they need to keep the same rosters as far as possible.

Agree that it currently feels like more of a longshot than a solid plan. But for the players' sake I hope they do it.

Not too stoked about having the World Juniors in summer. Not because I don't like the fact I can watch more hockey, just because I'm usually fishing and camping a lot in the summer, and enjoying the sun. Unfortunately I'll probably miss most of the tournament.

If a top prospect gets hurt then usually its no big deal for teams as the player may miss the rest of the season for their CHL/NCAA/Euro team. What if Power tears his ACL and misses a good chunk of the season... I'm sure Buffalo wouldn't be too happy.
