thats gold. leafs had taken Rielly two years prior to the 2014 draft and i spent a lot of time watching the Moose Jaw Warriors. Was always extremely impressed with point and was shocked he wasnt getting more recognition. i remember watching the draft praying we would select him at 68. Well glad to see hes having success, just wish it was with my leafs

Goes the other way too: If I'm a Minnesota fan, I'm pissed. Yzerman actually TOLD them who he wanted, and they were like, Nah, we'll take the seventh.
Not the only player that they let slip away. They had Tyler Johnson as a prospect tournament invitee in 2009 and again the next summer in 2010 at their development camp. They had him twice in a Minnesota Wild jersey and then he blew up his final year in the dub and we got him.

Tyler Johnson: The one that got away from the Wild

Got it right where Point got his injury. ECF Game 4. Right knee. Boy got hit twice in the same area during this campaign, this one ending up with a major bruise. Hurts like a bitch, for weeks. But no biggie.

Where did you read the confirmation ?

I remember being over the moon that we got Point. It's not like none of us knew we weren't getting a hell of a player even then. Guy just couldn't skate but had all the talent in the world otherwise

At the same time, TSN just ranked him something like the 7th best player in the game. I don't think anybody, Al Murray included, expected that.

Has there been any updates regarding his injury? Besides Stamkos our injury front has been quiet, some players had to have been playing thru something?
