Training camp 3 days on and zero info on players etc. Hard to get excited about the team when there is no reporting on how camp is going. Wake up somebody
Follow their broadcaster, Rob Mahon, on twitter. He's been tweeting a lot about what's going on.

Also a FYI, I spoke with Perry who has always been great with keeping the WK world updated on the teams activities. He said they are short staffed and as a result very busy being the only sports guy to complete daily news articles for the paper, let alone BWK site.

Also he seems to have stepped away from twitter as it was too vile at times.

Who knows we may see him in twitter again when everything settles down for him

Saw a couple of the games with the younger guys this weekend.

Prabh Bithal. He was very good. Big and has a knack for scoring. Skating has improved from whatever he has been doing this summer. Wheaties got a good one here
Maddox Ganda. Didn't know much about him but he looked solid. Real good skater and size and scored a couple. Not sure if he sticks around or not but he showed alot
Carson Park. Guy was the talk of the camp. Little skilled buzzsaw. Was all over the place on the ice and led the rookie camp in scoring. Going back to play midget this year and I am really interested to see the numbers he will put up.
Giorgis Pantelas. I probably misspelled his name but he looks like the making of the next great WHL D man. Very poised and strong. Looking forward to his development this year
Chase Surkan. I think he is good but I think he tried to do too much. Have to see how he did in the black and gold game

I was also hearing that Park had a great camp - hopefully has a great year and develops further and turns into a huge 5th round steal.

Joe, what did you see in Binder Nord? Sounds like he is a real agitator and that he had a great Black Gold game playing alongside Johnson. Perhaps takes over Henry's role with more offensive upside?

Assuming he gets a look they liked him last year. Be interesting to see who they bring along onto the preseason roster. There isn't a lot of spots open but they have quite a few guys battling for spots

Team seems to be high on the Gleason brothers from Colorado. Both big and apparently have skill. From what I have read and heard the future sounds very good. Team this year barring any serious injuries should be good as well.

Unfortunately, I've only been able to read this past weekends camp stories. Seems to be the consensus that the cuts that are coming will not be overly easy in some cases. With Henry gone does a Binder-Nord type fill the void although only 17 yrs old.

I don't think we are contending this year, so do you trade Shipley for more of a return vs Flamand?

Good time ahead. Thank god hockey is back as the Jays on my TV has been far and few between

My Fridays preseason game take away... A tough decision coming for our D core. Pantelas knows how to use that long stick and wide range as a result. I anticipate he will surely stick around. Ronald looked pretty decent too, I must say. I think he will be given an opportunity. Boehm and Allard maybe sent down... Tansem and Clark held their own and didn't disappoint. That's Fridays game results only, with several errors by all being their first game.

Nguyen, Baumuller played like I hoped they would do considering. Binder Nord looks like a keeper as well. No fighting in this game but his scouting report has him probably about the most of this group to be willing to drop the gloves.

Bhathal is going to be a good player for our offence next year. He is big and seems to have always been in the right spot with nice hands. Great 2nd round pick. I might be a bit early but a steal in my books.

Jacobson will be nice to watch this year. Will they keep him with Turko? Hmm.. they play well together, but I will assume they will start them together until Jacobson moves up the ladder in TOI and lines.

It's official we now have three OA's players for this coming season. Who will be the odd man out?

I think we need to keep, Roersma and Nguyen without a doubt. Flamand and Shipley are the remaining two.

We are wanting the 2026 Mem Cup honours either as a host or participant either eay.

Having said that what makes the most sense for a trade?

Shipley - Defense vs Flamand Forward.

Do we trade for the best return, which seriously will be surprising if anything above 4th round especially as an OA player.

Flamand had a great preseason. Little to late? The Shipley game I saw he was bad. But that was also his first preseason game.

I think we need Shipely.

Do you foresee Surkan or Bhathal getting a few games in this season?

Bhathal for sure. He has the size and ability to play right now. Surkan I am not sure about, he was just ok at camp

As for the overagers

I would have said before the pre season there is no way they move Shipley but right now I am not so sure. They have Elick,Ravndahl and Pantelas as right handed shots and they haven't reassigned Allard yet either. On the left it is likely Mantei, Belusko, and Ronald. I just don't know if they want to go with a super young defense so I will still stay they hold on to Shipley but man its close.

They only have 14 forwards listed too and I think they usually carry 14 forwards. Maybe they need to see Jacobson, Turko and Odut in a few regular season games to see if they can just run with them before they make any decisions

I agree on Bhathal probably playing a few games this year. He looked pretty good the game I saw. Small sample but.. as for Surkan I’m sure he will get some time too. Hope he does very well to show our first pick was good.

Now I was also thinking Allard will stay until I read the paper. Perry says any 16 year old has to play 40 games minimum.

If they do go for mem cup 2026 it would be beneficial to have these guys play a full year together and get that experience. But only if they’re ready. No sense sitting them in the press box for a lot of games.

Great first weekend. Was at Friday’s game and was impressed by a number of players. McQueen of course., Nguyen is really going to really help this team this year. Impressed by the poise of the rookies like Pantelas,Boehm Turko .Looks like the team has a lot of depth this year. Hope Johnson is not seriously njured as he got 3 goals tonight before his injury. Defence looks much better this year. The 3 16 yr old d men look like keepers. Very good start

Tough decision on the WK OA situation. Boils down to a choice between Roresma and Flamand. Not much difference here. Team may show allegiance to Roeresma as he was drafted by them and is a 5 year guy. Roeresma was a healthy scratch last night. Regina goalie was very good last night as the WK outplayed Regina all game. Team looks good so far and should get better as the many rookies improve and Bjarnson and Elick return.

Flamand will be the odd man out. Hopefully he can land a spot on another team as OV.

They did well this past weekend for sure. The 16 yr old situation is working well thus far. Pantelas is showing to be a Schneider type player already. That knee on knee was not on purpose so glad he only got the 2 min. Ronald will be a bonus for us for sure. I see either Boehm or Allard being sent down when Elick returns. Maybe even both as I don't know if they will carry 8 D. With Johnson (potentially) out and 1 OA out, Forwards are down to 12

Elick and Bjarnson back is going to be huge. They sent Allard back to AAA. I heard they would love to add either a 2006 or 2005 forward with size. Team is looking good can't wait to see them play a top team or two.

I have also heard Yager will move from MJ buts a matter of when and for how much

Roersma is the odd man out which I figured might be the case after the opening week-end. As an overager, he still looked so small out on the ice and while skilled and speedy plays too much of a perimeter game. Also Flamand is much more consistent night in and night out and will go to the dirty areas.

Decent return for an overager netting a 2nd and 5th round picks.

Hopefully Roersma can find more consistency in Edmonton and have a great year (just not against us). Closer to home for him as well which should be nice.

Might they be a year ahead of schedule? And with 5 teams putting in a bid do they go for it this year?

That second will come in handy come the deadline.
