I thought the first was actually really even and thought the Tips had pretty much nothing going. The second onward was a different story. But aside from the season opener against Vancouver that's the best I've seen another team play the Tips so far.

I realized after I wrote the above I didn't watch the PA or Saskatoon games, so not sure how those games looked. Still maintain the Brandon - EVT first period looked pretty good for Brandon.
WK getting filled in against MH. 3-0 so far for the Tigers

Injuries now becoming a big factor for the team as McQueen,Mantei, and Klippenstein are all out. Need other players to step up. Better effort so far tonight in LethbrIdge but still down 3-1 late in the 1st period.
Any Wheatking fans know how Brandon got two super fans to ref this game?

WHL is the organization I am talking about but sure with Marty Murray’s crying it could apply to the WKs as well.
The 3rd goal was a direct result of the 3rd or 4th complete BS penalty the refs gave the WKs tonight. They are only in this game thanks to the refs.
In a properly called game this is 6-7 to zip for the Canes.
You must live under a rock. Yes, the reffing in the league is a black eye many nights. And possibly the Canes have been jobbed tonight but once again that street runs both ways.
WK down 4-3 to Lethbridge with 5 minutes left. Even if they lose this game they have played much better tonight considering the injuries. A lot more territorial play in this game compared to last night. Really think the team has 2 real good ones in their 16 year old defenceman Pantelas and Bohem. Both have good size and are very mobile. If you add Allard another 16 playing in Saskatchewan U 18 the future of the defence looks very good. Bhatal a big 15 yr old playing U18 in WPG looks like another real good prospect.
No I live in the real world where I don't pass off game changing biased reffing as "oh well"
OK What do you suppose we do about the state of reffing in the Dub.? The WHL is a training ground for players and refs both but still sucks to see some refs who should not be out there.
I think more accountability. What bothers me is not the missed calls or tough calls that are made I expect. It is flat out indefensible phantom calls that happen way too often for me. For example, the Ward crosscheck yesterday happens 10 times a game called to put Lethbridge down for a 2 minute 5 on 3. That isn't inexperience that stupidity. That is a ref trying to make an impact on the game. Affecting the outcome.
The other day Marques gets a 10 minute misconduct for taunting or whatever they call it, 5 minutes later the Warrior player points and shouts at the Canes bench gets nothing. Again that isn't learning how to ref it is pure incompetence.
Refs that make calls based on their emotions like those examples can take a seat for two weeks or more.
Great examples of the inconsistency of the reffing in this league. Don’t think there is much we can do about the reffing except complain on social media and hope someone in the league office takes notice and tries to improve it by getting rid of the incompetent refs

And who replaces the refs you deem incompetent? It's not like there is a plethora of "better" refs just hanging around waiting for a call.
It's a development League for players, sometimes coaches and refs, and for the most part they do a pretty decent job IMO.

I agree with you to a point but we need to quit overlooking mediocrity and some how put a better effort into improving the officiating. Yes, overall it is adequate but there are some obvious warts

Big win tonight 6-3 over Spokane with a shot lineup. Great effort from the older guys like Flamand,Petr, Shipley, and Nguyen. I have been impressed by our young players Jacobsen , Pantelas, and Boehm who are 16 and a very good game tonight by the 15 yr old Bhathal. This guy is going to be a player. Big and skilled. The 2 16 yr old d men have been very solid playing better than Belusko the 18 yr old import. Only bad news is the injury to Peter who looks like he got concussed. Not sure where the team will get the players from. Not sure calling up the 15’s for many games is not a good thing.

That was a dirty hit. Hopefully Petr is ok and that guy is suspended a long time. The 2 16 year D are holding up nicely which bolds well for the future. Bhathal was really good he could play in the league this year, if he can get a half a step faster look out. Jacobson was really good too, his defensive side is lacking but he created a lot of chances last night. Good to see Baumiller get off the snide last night with a goal.

The future of the WK will be in full display tonight as their lineup likely has 3 16 yr olds and 2 15 yr olds. Looks like the scouts have hit a home run with the last 2 drafts. Having Moulton as the head of scouting does not hurt. Seems like scouting has improved in the last 3 years. Surkan dressed tonight. Very different from Bhathal in that he is a lot smaller but is very skilled. Should be an interesting game.
Another good effort tonight against Seattle. The OA boys are carrying the team. Flamand and Nygyen as well as Shipley have been very good since McQueen etc. went down to injury. Another injury tonight as Bhatal injured his shoulder and it did not look good at all. The only good thing is the team has a week off to heal and also 9 of next 10 games are at home.
Have to feel badly for McQueen who is missing the Prospects game against the US prospects because of his injury. Apparently his injury is long term which will really impact the WK but also McQueen’s draft status as he may be viewed as injury prone which will really hurt his value. As well I am guessing Bhathal is going to miss the WHL Cup in RedDeer for U16 prospects in western Canada. Very tough break for theses two guys. Also Jacobsen and Pantelas go to the U17 tournament in November. Really hope the WK get some players back from injury soon as this season is going to go down in the shitter.
WK gutted out an OT victory over Calgary. 3 out of 4 points with a depleted lineup is very good. Team has a week off to try and get healthier. Going to lose Jacobson and Pantelas go to U17 tourney for a week at least. Not good going forward.
Big win 3-0 over Medicine Hat tonight. Bjarnson very good tonight. Likely best game by him so far this year. Too bad the team cannot get fully healthy as they could definitely cause some waves in the East Division this year. Seemed to have come together lately in spite of manpower shortages. McQueen is out long term I believe which really sucks for both the team and him. The weekend college schedule helps a lot when the team is short handed.

Not a great afternoon today as WK got shut out by Lethbridge 3-0 but worse was losing another key player to injury when Nygyen went down and it not look too good. Seems like the team cannot avoid injuries this year so far. I was impressed by Lethbridge big and play a great shut down game. Reffing today to put it mildly was atrocious. The Powell/ Friesen combo was incompetent. Worse reffing so far. The league better have a look at these two and send them back to ref school.

I attended this game and I was impressed by Lethbridge, great shut down game is right, the Wheaties had a hard time sustaining any extended time in the Hurricanes zone. They are close in the standings but Lethbridge clearly looked like the better team. That Edwards line is a force offensively too, very impressive.
Not sure if Jacobson doesn't have the right linemates or what but for all the hype, I can't say I really noticed him all that much.
Hope Nguyen bounces back, that looked pretty tough. Also, that was a crazy open-ice hit on Wormald too, when he went down I was worried that he was in trouble. Good job by the stripes on breaking up that fight before he could get checked out.
