I didn’t like that answer about the top 10 pick.
Moving up makes no sense unless you're after #2, and even then, you might not get a player that plays this year, and you're dumping a lot of draft capital to make that big a move. I don't think it's realistic if they want to be a competitive team this year so Steve's answer makes perfect sense

How the f*** did we get that haul when he only wanted to go to one team?
2 years left on the deal

They probably want brady bad cause it makes then the favourites in the league for another cup. 9th overall for Brady and then a lower 1st rounder and a pick in '29 is not that big for them to give up

Well yeah he was still a good player who was playing with our best offensive player. He's going to put up points.

A lot of forwards would be point per game next to Stu.
Brady played substantially more games with Cozens and Grieg last season than with Timmy. Don't let facts get in the way of your perception though.

Interesting hearing Steve say fewer teams will be spending to the cap going forward due to the rising cap, not surprised, but it does go against the idea that increased revenue sharing should offset this.

Almost like it doesn't sufficiently offset the disparity in revenue generation... Something I've been worried about since the cap increases were announced.

Sens are at the bottom of the league for generating revenue. Bottom third of the league revenue generators are going to have a tough time. There are few teams who will justify spending to the cap when it's done accelerating.

Shoud have played hardball with FLA and got them to give up Lundell
they wouldnt even bother to listen. I think OTT did pretty well considering BT pulled a Larkin on his team... You have to think the picks + can land a player of equal value (that actually wants to play in OTT) and for longer than 2 years.

cause Brady gave him 2 years on a contract to trade him. Good on both sides for getting it done quietly and not leading each other on

Now Staois has a lot to prove

Brady demanded a trade to a single team lol.

Staois did his best in a bad situation Brady should get zero appreciation for his behavior.

i believe with this rise in cap we are going to start to see the richer teams taking advantage similar to pre 2005 lockout. the revenue sharing model will keep this going for a while - it is not much different than a massive "luxury tax" on the big spenders (similar to baseball NBA).

Teams like: NYR, TOR, MTL, CHI, BOS are going to benefit - they can outspend the smaller clubs. They are in essence getting taxed 2X the value off the bottom line from Rev sharing... but that is the built in advantage I suppose.

Its good that Brady told them whats what.

It is actually a lot better than whatever happened with Stone here and Marner in Toronto.

Its much better for the team he told them behind closed doors that he isn't signing.

Well according to Staios he didn't just tell them that he isn't signing. He explicitly asked to be traded this summer.

This was not a "Hey I have two years left and I'll give it my all, but just so you know, as a UFA, I'm gonna test the market."

This was a "I don't want to be here, trade me now, but only to Florida."

One is respectful. The other is quitting on a team.

Worst captain we've had. That is clear now.

Stone wanted to stay.

No, he didn't tell them he wasn't signing. He told them he was demanding a trade and he would only accept Florida as the destination.
