Short term, the team probably suffers a bit unless other acquisitions are made immediately. Long term we could come out well ahead.

We certainly have a lot of cap space now: $25M to spend.

Hope fully we spend it wisely on players with a longer term future with the team rather than ageing out old farts! :)

We are probably not going to be a cap team based on the tone of that presser.

Management at the time. It's all there if you look back.
so he didnt want to stay lmao

btw it was due to ownership and him thinking he can't win here.

regardless if he didnt believe this ownership could win Sens would have been better off if Stone told them that earlier

they wouldnt even bother to listen. I think OTT did pretty well considering BT pulled a Larkin on his team... You have to think the picks + can land a player of equal value (that actually wants to play in OTT) and for longer than 2 years.
I dont think it will.

Our economy is shit, the American economy is way better but they still have high inflation. Teams are just not going to be giving up assets like the ones we need. Teams like us on the other hand, that's all we do.

Brady is a big boy, he doesn't need fake platitudes.

It's obvious Steve was pissed that Brady forced his way to play with big brother at the detriment of the team that bent over backwards to make him happy
I did not say anything about "platitudes", fake, brief or otherwise.

Lol if Andlauer in 2 years told Brady he wouldn't go over $8.5x4 or something and Brady walked would you blame Brady or Andlauer?

This team would have committed to Brady and backed up the truck. Eugene was a cheap fool and didn't want to pay Stone during a rebuild.

Stone still summers in Ottawa for f***'s sake.

I don't think Brady could keep up the charade much longer. It was pretty obvious to everyone that he was checked out and not re-upping.

Staois and the rest of the team knew long before we did I'm sure. And it wasn't because Brady was being a swell guy.
I think the final nail in the coffin was when Brady was questioned about the Olympic locker room stuff and the White House visit. He seemed to take particular exception to Claire Hanna's very reasonable questions. For the rest of the season there was no more jovial Brady in interviews. He was very curt with everyone and downright rude towards Hanna. having dealt with a situation like this, I know it was a nightmare for the Sens PR team.

Like I said earlier, I think it's a crying shame that we are losing his skill-set, but his repeated poor decision-making off the ice is making it easier to console myself.

Get over it dude. All I said was that Brady giving the team 2 years notice works in our favour over him walking or telling us in his final year.

Stone told us he was not signing at the deadline before he was to become a UFA and it hurt our return. The whole stone stuff falls on all parties involved.

The Sens and Brady handled this situation well

I think we should do as others have suggested and focus on drafting prospects and trading for players who are not Americans who most likely want to play in the USA rather than a small Canadian city. That still leaves us with great choices of Canadians, Swedes, Finns, Russians, Czechs, Slovaks, Germans and XXXX !

The owner has made changes to how they do things and do business. The players are committed to the team "Ottawa is a destination"
No one believes Staois until he proves it. Bring in Tuch? Trade for Robertson and sign him?

I hope this presser makes it clear that there was nothing the fanbase, the team or Claire Hanna could do to change this.

Brady was out the door a while ago. Good riddance. The myth of Brady Tkachuk can finally die, and he can go be a 2nd liner in a market where the local high school football team gets more press.
We've finally reached the end of the story arc of one of the most overrated players in this team's history. This kid was lionized by this fanbase for all his off-ice PR. The fans spent so much time imagining what Brady could be and ascribing that greatness to him, they failed to realize that what they were actually getting was only a fraction of what they imagined.

8 years with the team
5 years as captain
2 playoff appearances, sneaking in as the 14th overall seed both times
2 playoff games won in total

All of that time spent making this guy out to be larger than life for that. Pathetic.

I have at least a week of hate posting in me.

If you want to pump his tires on the way out fine.

Brady is a chump hopefully you and others will come to realize this eventually.

Lol Claire Hanna ran Brady out of town.

Honestly if he folded from some women's volleyball player turned reporter then he might not have what it takes anyway.

Demanding a trade to his one destination after letting on about a 4 team list. What a joke.

He deserves no fanfare. f*** this guy. Worst Captain ever and I'm glad to flush this stupid "Brady era" of overinflating a players value.

Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out you MAGA loving clown. Go Iran.
My goodness!

I would
It has like zero impact on one's daily life. Certainly not on a pro hockey player's lol.
Seriously.

Our economy is the one that is hurting the most. No state tax/extra million in your pocket/great weather year round/BBL's.......what's wrong with that scenario again?

Gone are the days when players were traded by management with no questions asked.
The tide has turned and it seems players are calling the shots more.
