I am a huge fan of this player and his style, however I really dont like him in a leadership position.

He would be good as a support player with strong leadership to mentor him.

Thats what happens when a player is gifted the captaincy in exchange for signing a long term deal.

Unless Tkachuk wanted to leave Ottawa, why would they do it? Teams would line up to get a player like that.
Exactly, an epic 31 team bidding war which would see him go for more than he's worth, hence the sky high ask for him

I agree 100 percent.

Do you think the Senators would trade Brady for one of those straight up?
Given their cap hits and age no, but the value is close otherwise

Bratt or Meier and Nemec
Why on earth would we trade Meier for Tkachuk? They are almost the same player except one we have locked up long term & is best friends with our captain (also thriving in Keefe's system) trading Meier and another asset for Tkachuk is us just tossing away assets for 0 reason.
Nemec, Hameenaho (spelling), Mercer and 1st…maybe swap Mercer w Meier. Nemec would be the main piece, imo. Need a RHD big time.
Again, why are we trading away Meier? Meier plays the exact same game that Tkachuk does. Also if we traded away Nemec there's absolutely 0 chance on earth he comes with any additions. That's an absolute 1 for 1 trade if it ever happened. A 2nd OA RD prospect is straight up gold around the league, that and prospect centers NEVER hit the trade market. I love me some Tkachuk and I would give up a crap load for him but to give up Meier, plus additional assets or Nemec, plus a first & Mercer is honestly delusional. We need players like Meier and Tkachuk. The whole point to trade for Tkachuk is to have 2 power wingers on our top 2 lines. Nico-Meier, Tkachuk-Hughes would be so nasty. Now if I were to make an offer for him Mercer is obviously on the table. I wouldn't want to trade Nemec or Casey but IF it were to happen it would be a straight up 1 for 1 with no additions.

Hawks have prospect pool that giving up both 1st's this year wont be terrible for future (Hawks have made 8 picks in 1st round the past 3 drafts)

Dach and Harding are caught up in #'s game in Chicago organization at those positions at this point going forward

Nazar, Moore, Boisvert, Greene, Spellacy and Mustard all highlight C depth pool in prospect pipeline

While Hawks have Korchinski, Del Mastro and Allan at LD in pipeline (Guys like Del Mastro and Allan can play both sides) and Vlasic and Kaiser already at NHL level

There's a reason every fanbase mentions him in trade proposals. Though you aren't completely wrong about him, the thing is, he is exactly what every GM wants. As such, if he ever were available(which he isn't), 31 teams would line up to make offers. That's just reality, his trade value exceeds his actual value, a very rare thing indeed. Look at the haul his brother got and then realize that Brady could absolutely rag doll Matthew & they both know it.

Devils would need to include a first and a second just to dump Palat anywhere and you know that
Matthew Tkachuck was a 100pt player when traded.

Brady will never be that

Knies is about at the same spot Tkachuk was at 22 and just as good at the physical hockey. Knies is likely to be the best or 2nd best power forward in the game the way he is developing those tools.
Are you just going for the record of most outlandish and homer posts ever made in a season?

First Will > Swayman

Now Knies the 2nd best power forward in the world?

Patiently waiting for Liljegren > Makar post from you

If he gets traded, it's because he wants out and his NMC activates on July 1st. They have to move him before his NMC kicks in because if they keep him in hopes of resolving things and fail, that means they if they wait to trade him, they are getting whatever Vegas or Tampa can convince them to take.

Not saying he will straight up ask for a trade, but that is hot how these dances usually work.

If they make the playoffs this season, the above likely becomes irrelevant. I can't see him staying if they miss again.

If the senators don't take large strides this year you have to look at making changes to the core.

Chabot , batherson, Norris, stutzle or Tkachuk.

Sanderson is untouchable. Probably stutzle too.

The rest won't get a massive return. That leaves Tkachuk.

Although honestly Chabot is a guy they should look at moving anyway

The Sens aren't trading Tkachuk for pure futures unless they're tearing it all down.

If they trade Tkachuk its for a star player and bits.

I don't think they would trade Brady just to make a change to the core.

It reminds me a bit of the Eichel situation in Buffalo, just in terms of his career arc, and the timing of the failed rebuild. By the time it was really apparent how much work they still had to do to retool, Eichel was starting year 7 of his career and had a NMC kicking in at the end of the season.

The only difference is that there has been more of a deliberate attempt to reshape the team on the fly and win now, where as with Eichel (who was injured), he had a foot out the door at the start of his seventh season.

In both cases, there would be no logical way to keep the player and make it work.

That's the kind of situation the Senators will be in if they are out of the playoffs. It wouldn't surprise me if this mirrors the Karlsson saga, where if we are near the basement in January we start to hear murmurs about a Brady trade from the "evil Toronto media", and it intensifies leading into the TDL.

My hope would be that they put it together and avoid that.

LA would 10000% trade Turcotte

The Kings are trying to build around Byfield, Clarke, Turcotte. Turcotte is finally healthy amd is starting to look like the 5th OA pick they used on him.

Turcotte has been the Kings best player this season by a decent margin. Turcotte is definitely not on the Tkachuk level but LA would be trying to add Tkachuk to their young core. Not remove the core for a piece. That's why I said they don't have what Ottawa wants/needs
