lol i guess being a brand name has value.
Giroux likely didn't want to go over one of the kids, and they have to take position into account across all the teams.

Besides, he's still on pace for 40 goals, along with 200+ hits and 200+ PIMs. He's not a bad choice even if we have a couple other viable options that may in a vacuum be a bit ahead of him.

I will continue to champion that most of all Brady’s struggles can be fixed with a year or so of solid coaching. DJ ran a selfish system that focused on lots of opportunities for the teams “stars” to shine but sacrificed high scoring chances against. Going to take a little while to coach out the selfishness. I think if Brady was traded to another team he would join an ever growing line of players that turned out to be amazing in their post Ottawa careers.

Certainly way way too early for this to be a consideration. I think he is in a funk but he will come out of it. When this gets turned around Brady will be a big part .. Every team in the NHL would love to have Brady Tkachuk.

Brady has some shortcomings defensively and maybe thats a focus right now ... Maybe this team needs a shakeup but Brady won't even be on the list of considerations.

Of course with a teams with good vets. He was too young to be captain. He’s better to bring his teammates to karaoke, to win hockey games. When I see him cheering for Mat in playoffs. I turn off on him

wow, 8 games with a new coach trying to get our unicorn of a player to adapt to playing a winning style of hockey, and we already have people asking if it's time to move on from him.

Imagine if Detroit traded Yzerman 8 games into Scotty Bowman's tenure as HC in Detroit...

How many comments are from sens fans and how many are from fans of other teams?

No shit? Every business uses this model does it not?

it's just a little funny how blatant it is in this instance, especially since this is a performance sport. and in general

if Brady's last name was Smith instead of Tkachuk he would have half the hype, would not have gotten the contract, would not have been made captain, and most likely is less entitled.

Sure and if he had two wheels and a seat he’d be a bicycle. I’m sure it’s really easy to make up scenarios in your head that would make him a bad player.

we get it you don’t like him on the Sens and haven’t since before he signed his extension.

Hey man I have lived through the dumb Alfie for Conroy phase, when things are down our passionate and perhaps naive fanbase react the way we are seeing things unfold right now. It is true that this has gone on since 2017, so a very long time for patience to have worn out.

However, this isn't the same regime. New ownership. New Management. New coaching. With ongoing recruitment to bolster the scouting department further.

Jacques hasn't had the luxury of coaching this team when they have been so much on the road since he took over. The players, entrenched in their own ways of hockey, have much to learn. As I keep stressing, this is a young core, so they are still very malleable. We have been patient for so long, we need to be patient with the new regime to put their mark.

DJ shouldn't have started the season as the head coach, neither should Dorion have been allowed to make key decisions/sign/re-sign players. Ownership transfer shouldn't have taken so long but it did. And here we are.

Let the new guys do their due diligence and the players absorb the transformation. It will take some time, but I am still optimistic about this core with proper coaching.

On most nights Tkachuk plays his heart out. He is a worthwhile player and captain for our team. The entire team culture needs to change, however.

He's on pace for

40 goals, (well 39 after last game,), leading the team, and currently 26th in the league
373 shots, 1st on team, currently 7th in the league
233 hits, 1st on team, currently 11th in the league
212 PIMs, 1st in the league
leads the team in ES goals, currently 19th in the league
and 2nd on the the team in PP goals

The guy is a premiere power forward in the league, regardless of his name, or whether you're willing to admit it or not.

what is funny about this is that Brady is a better player when he focuses on his playmaking, instead of spamming and taking a lot useless shots trying to be a 40 goal scorer.

he is a premier power forward. but people here like to pretend he is ovechkin or something and he himself seems to think he is ovechkin.

the best pass is a rebound. We just need to have guys going to the net to capitalize. Brady creates a ton of rebounds, 2nd in the league according to moneypuck.

Nobody pretends he's Ovechkin, that's a full blown strawman, Ovechkin is/was a generational talent. People act like hes among top power forwards in the game, which he is. They act like he's a player every other team would love to have, which they would. They act like he's still got room to improve, which he does, meaning he has the potential to be better than he already is.

brady wastes a lot of possession trying to score when the pass is a better option.

hopefully he improves because power forwards like him who rely on their physical attributes so much decline a lot when they are less able or willing to play the same game.

and too many times people say that they would not trade him for anyone short of mcdavid. when there are a shit load of players between mcdavid and brady.

If and when the Sens eventually get into the playoffs a guy like Brady is the type of player that you are going to need. For now though he has to earn his captain stripes and lead this group to bigger and better times.
Adversity is a test of one's character!
Time to lead Brady!

Our team is far more often guilty of overpassing the puck when there's an opportunity to shoot than he is of shooting when there's an opportunity to pass. Brady leads the team in CF%, which is viewed as a strong proxy for team possession time.

Using unnamed anecdotes of a team's fans being unreasonable with trade proposals isn't a particularly compelling argument for how people actually view the player. The vast majority of fans are pretty reasonable with their assessments of Brady, yourself aside.

Tkachuk is not the problem.

He just can't fix this mess himself and that isn't on him.

He needs to be better defensively but a better defensive Tkachuk doesn't turn this season around. The problems are too huge.

He's a big part of whatever the solution looks like.

No, but maybe if he start to play defensively, our forwards maybe will follow him

I m tired of this excuse. Not like this kid just start playing hockey. They know from the start, good defensive team brings more wins
How can you be tired of an excuse that has only extend 3 weeks and by its nature speaks to change taking some time?

He played the system the coach he had preached, have some patience...
Years of bad habits are not going to disappear in a few games.
Particularly when the team hasn't had a lot of opportunities for practices,

Yzerman didn't become a defensive stalwart in Bowman's first year coaching him. It took three years under Bowman before he started getting serious Selke recognition.
