Ottawa could use another Tkachuk & maybe Formenton might be another guy who is a pain in the ass to play against & play with some grit. They are also missing a guy like Logan Brown who could help add some much needed offence to this team, however, it seems like this management team wants him to be much hungrier for the opportunity & play a more aggressive style & are letting him percolate in Belleville. I expect that L. Brown, Batherson, Formenton & Norris should all be on this team next season to help Tkachuk.

He was gritty in his prime too.

Alfie was never shy to pound someone into the boards, or get his elbows up.

He wasnt ruutu, but he had some jam to his game. More than most highly skilled superstar calibur players

Haha, that’s what I meant; if he was in his prime in today’s NHL.

Pinto and Norris alongside Formenton. We are gonna be an excellent pest team soon. What we need is more skill. Batherson and Balcers are pure skill guys but we would need 2 high end calibre skill guys too.

Laferniere/Byfield would go a long way into making that happen. Even 2 of

Stutzle/Raymond/Holtz/Lundel/Perfetti would be enormous. And I think that can definitely happen.

Norris is matching Batherson on skill/age for AHL play, with a higher projected ceiling I would say he is a pure skill guy.

Not really; and I was also projecting conservatively. Also, by pure skill I mean like legit spectacular hands and creative offensive ability - Norris' goals are the hardworking type with excellent shooting ability. His great numbers doesn't mean pure skill at all.

Batherson 59 games 22 goals 40 assists 62 points
Norris 37 games. 20 goals 16 assists 36 points.

they are pacing at almost the same points but Norris will finish with way more goals. Lol no skill at all...you think scoring takes no skill? Hate to tell you Norris is faster and has a better shot, his numbers mean skill, that’s how you get that many goals. His play means skill that’s how he gets the points. The Drake is good but spectacular hands score goals. Like I said at the age of 20 Norris has shown as much skill as any 20 year old we have or have had in the system.
Forget the goal scorer we need someone with skill...is not a saying or a thing. Hardest thing in hockey and the highest paid skill for a reason

His brother Mathew played like an idiot last night.

I love Brady because he actually will fight when challenged. You will never see him turtle.

Mathew is trying to be like his dad but there's one thing that's missing. Toughness and fight.

Thank god we have Brady.

I like that about Brady as well. He's a throwback old school player that will fight you fairly instead of giving cheap shots and running away.

That being said his brother's antics were a huge reason Calgary won last night. That double minor that they scored on to start the third period was the game winning goal.

I love Norris too and I hope he's the next Bergeron but we cannot be throwing stats out of context.

Bellville this year has like 6-7 guys close to PPG or more than PPG with Batherson leading entire AHL in points and Balcers having like best PPG.

Last year Batherson had 15 points more than the next guy.

Formenton is also a rookie and is only 1 goal away from Norris. Both these guys gonna be top line forwards? I sure hope but lets think in terms of pure skill. Batherson is clearly superior and we need 1-2 guys BETTER than Batherson.

Nah. Just just playing a modern day pest role. Get someone on the other team angry enough to do something stupid, then turtle to draw extra powerplay time.

It's not exactly the most noble way to play the game, but it's effective.

Unless we fluke out I don’t think any of them will be top line forwards. Brown might be a third liner, hopefully Drake or Norris end up second liners. I hate that Edmonton ruined the draft, I could imagine it being changed back once a team like Pitts or La get stuck in last too long and can’t get a top 3 pick. But if a long shot gets first overall this is going to be stupid.

Brady is like his dad, people will respect him like they do now. I think players around the league respect the way he plays... Hard... A little chirpy but clean.

His brother is an embarrassment to the Tkachuk name. He also goes against the code, if you want to throw hits like that you better be ready to answer the bell.

Or don't... You put your team at risk then cause someone has to pay.

Hes a joke.

I thought Matthew was fine

He threw a clean hit on Kassian and Kassian took 4mins of pp for retaliating

It was a textbook game with good hitting. Didn't see anything cheap

Not about being cheap. The hit was clean... It could have easily been really illegal with how he went in to it.

Point I'm trying to make is if you are going to go out in to games... And target individuals... Like he does with doughty and Kassian... Man the F up and square up.

Again, the league is moving away from that.

If I was Flame brass, no way in hell do I want Matthew ruining his hands bashing them against Kassian's skull.

But I get it....old school hockey you man up and fight. But old school hockey is dead. When you're paying kids like Tkachuk $7 mil a season, you don't want him fighting. You want him putting up points and throwing hits.

It wasn't illegal though

Kassian literally lost them the game in a tight playoff race. If I was Matthews teammate I would be loving it.

Kassian literally fell for it for a guy who was just playing hard

I see threw Mathews crap. He doesn't play hard against everyone... He singles out individuals and throws dangerous hits that can be career ending. Then he doesn't answer the bell.

All I am saying is Brady is a better leader, better on the ice, better goal scorer with less help then what Matthew has... And he answers the bell like a man.

I think Matthew is a rat and I think Brady is a hard nosed grinder who plays the game the right way.

Was Mathews hits clean... Yes by an inch or so. The first one he throws his hip and just missed Kassian head.

The guy has a history of dirty moves I don't understand the arguement.

So Matthew singled out Kassian ? You do know how big Kassian is right? Quite the guy to single out.

Excellent player all teams would want. Not all soccer moms evidently

I love Brady and Keith's game

You don't think I'm lumping them together do you?

Have you ever played junior hockey or semi pro hockey to understand that how Mathew plays is gutless and embarassing?

Kassian is 100% in the wrong for last night. He lost his cool and took a really bad double minor that cost his team the game. He goes to the media after the game and cries like a baby that Tkachuk wouldn't fight him. Why would Tkachuk fight you Kassian? You are a worse player and have a size advantage. Tkachuk doesn't have to fight you and he is totally allowed to throw hits during the game, even if you don't like them Kassian.

I get that Mathew Tkachuk is a rat and the fact that he is far less willing then Brady to drop the gloves probably frustrates the opposition, but what he does is extremely effective.
