Cassidy was hated so much in Boston that Krejci went to Europe and DeBrusk demanded a trade. After Cassidy left, Krejci came back and DeBrusk rescinded his trade request.

Where is Cassidy now?
Cassidy also took that Boston team to within 1 game of the Stanley Cup back in 2019

He might wear out his welcome in 3-4 years, but for the first couple he is undeniably one of the best coaches in hockey. We should have pursued him, yet we're stuck with Keefe once again

Game 7 it was pretty blatant that Marleau was getting way more run than Matthews until it was effectively too late. Steve Simmons asked Babcock about it at the podium and Babcock stormed out like a piss baby

When Matthews ends up with more than 4 minutes of ice, it’s hard to believe Marleau had more at any point, let alone way more until it was too late.

In the second Boston series, Matthews played 19:47 per game, which was second among forwards behind Marner.

Marleau played 14:40 per game, which was eighth among forwards.
Marleau should have played 4 minutes a game.
This is all Tanenbaum's fault.
Come on, Howard, make up your mind. Is it all Shanahan's fault or Tanenbaum's?
Love Larry Robinson, he was the epitome of a true defencman
Hall of Fame player, though for me he was a slight notch below his HoF teammates Lapointe and Savard. No wonder they won so much with those three.

was just over at the pens board to see whats up.

saw "threads" and "posts" from the folks that claim to be Leafs fans engaging as if they are pens fans

just WOW.
There was a thread by sticky comparing drafts. Who else is there engaging as if they were Pens fans?

Are you referring to the Dubas fans that cheer for him more than the Leafs?
There are a few after loss only posters here who have been posting daily.

All things being equal, Treliving would prefer to keep Mitch Marner, too. As he said in his introductory news conference, it’s hard to replace elite talent. You can never predict if another team will pick up the phone and make the kind of offer a GM never saw coming, but let’s put it this way: Treliving isn’t bringing Marner’s name up with teams.

As we said, Treliving wants to re-sign Nylander, an unrestricted free agent in 2024, as well. But of interest here is some agent history. Nylander’s rep, Lewis Gross, also represents Johnny Gaudreau, whose exit from Calgary left tire tracks on Treliving when he was GM there. So suffice it to say: Treliving isn’t going to allow a song and dance to play out all season with Nylander, who we now have at No. 10 on the trade board. It’s “extension or else” in all probability.

On Matthews, it’s pretty straightforward. Getting him signed is the top priority, and there’s no doubt that bringing No. 34’s old Arizona hockey idol into the fold was a nice bonus in hiring Shane Doan to the front office.

The Maple Leafs hired Shane Doan to their front office, the team announced Friday.
Doan was most recently the Arizona Coyotes’ chief hockey development officer before agreeing to become a special adviser to Leafs general manager Brad Treliving.Maple Leafs hire Shane Doan to front office

I think people acting like this is all a ploy to entice Matthews to extend us honestly really insulting to Doan who has more than enough to offer to be considered for a role in any NHL organization and an existing relationship with our now GM. The Matthews connection is the lazy narrative

He's passed all the tests in Pittsburgh already lol

Not really a shocker. There's a couple others who need to join him instead of posting stats trying to justify the failure of a GM who is no longer here

Doan has as much NHL experience as Dubas did when we hired him as GM

Dubas using his Excel spreadsheet subtracted 10 years from Sid and Gino's age.

There not Leaf fans, they’re Dubas loyalists and I hope they follow their messiah to the promised land and never return………
those guys are equivalent to The Winter Solider for Dubas. They get turned on from stanning for Dubas rather getting turned on by hating on the Leafs (The Winter Solider has gone from being a Sabres Fan, to Jets Fan, to an Isles fan, to NHL fan)

One thing he was consistent about though through it all

The TML player/coach/manager is always worse/less valuable than the comparison

Dubas' 5 year contract started in 2018. He knew that it would end in 2023. He then signed both Matthews and marner.

Seems a little scummy to have both of your biggest rfas nmcs kick in at the same time you need a new contract.

I just hope BT will do a better job than KD, but the bar was set quite low so it shouldn't be too difficult.

The Leafs whole "let's just hire someone we know" nepotistic hiring practices really make it hard to take this franchise seriously.

Tanenbaum's lucky he's rich. Because he's clearly not smart enough to know how to keep himself alive. So he hires smarter people to do it for him.

Just because someone has piles of money doesn't mean they're smart.

I don't think anyone can doubt Shanahan is anything more than a walking brick, for example. Well, if you're going to hire and keep someone that dumb around, then guess what? Yeah, you're an even bigger idiot than he is.

Just a stupid, stupid, owner.

With an equally stupid dope from dops ex-player for president. And a stupid media that licks the teams ass every chance it can. Allowing this horse's ass for an owner to run this team as the laughingstock of the hockey world.

This, what should be the flagship franchise of the NHL, has once again become a clown car calamity.

Do I sound angry?
Do I sound frustrated?
Maybe even a little pissed off?

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact the only thing Leafs related I've bought all year was a 2023 calendar with Freddy Andersen as February?

Can you blame me?

Tells you everything you need to know right there how ML$E views their fans. Says a lot about fans like me too. As far as I'm concerned, if you're going to keep contributing to this geriatric billionaire's cryogenics payment plan, you're part of the problem.

Lucky for Tanenbaum, I don't think anybody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the public before.
