Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

Its crazy that people are struggling to understand we handed a 4th line spot to Reaves and that cost us a 4th line winger in the process. You can argue he could have outplayed Gregor for the job, theres some logic there, but to pretend our 4th line RWer signed for 1.35M didnt impact the current 4th line RWer is beyond insanity
I think it's that Reaves has been so unbelievably bad in every possible way that even those who would normally try and defend the signing and Treliving's decision to choose him over Lafferty have concluded that it's so indefensible that it's easier to just pretend that decision never happened.
lafferty was not enough good to stay in line up last playoff when leafs played with full line up and was healthy scratch... and the funny thing its your reacting like toronto should had lost an amaizing player they can't easily replace..
Lafferty played 9 out of the Leaf's 11 playoff games, and was actually our 7th best producing forward on a pretty stacked roster.
Nobody is claiming that Lafferty is some amazing player that can't be replaced. They've simply acknowledged the basic fact that Lafferty is a much better (and cheaper and younger) player than Reaves, Treliving made a choice to choose Reaves over Lafferty, and that decision is currently looking as horrible as almost everyone predicted. That's it.

Lafferty was traded because he lost is spot to Gregor.

He lost his job to Reaves, and then cap complications caused by Reaves. Reaves costs 200k more, and is so bad that he's already benched.
If McMann takes his job, so be it. That is professional sports just like Gregor taking Lafferty's job with the Leafs.

Cap applies to the whole team. Had they gave Klingberg or any other player less they could have kept Lafferty. Thinking it only comes down to one player being signed is pretty silly.

They don’t carry 23 players, they could have kept Lafferty and Reaves and Gregor had they had the space.

Yes, not making other bad decisions could have created the space to have all of Gregor, Lafferty, and Reaves. But we didn't have the space, in part because we wasted 1.35m on Reaves, who despite being worse, was also handed the 4th line RWer spot that Lafferty previously held.

Reeves was brought in for a specific reason while Gregor signed a PTO to compeat with Lafferty. Gregor won the job. Reeves was brought in for on ice and off ice. He hasn't looked good on ice yet and we would notice off ice impacts yey. Still, Reeves will likely be back in fro time to time.

He may be awful now but Lou has his hands all over this team.
Of the current roster, only Matthews, Liljegren, Woll and Rielly are left from his time here. He did a great job tearing the team down for the rebuild and had some good signings but he had also left us with 2 of some of the worst contracts in the league and a bunch of prospects that didn't even amount to good AHL players. Or else we maybe could've had some solid support players for our core on cheap contracts the last 3 yrs.

He left the Devils in awful shape when he left there and he's done mostly a horrible job the last few years on the island and they are going to continue to be in horrible shape for the next few years being an aging team with a weak prospect pool.

Seems like another swing and a miss from that poster.

Very consistent at least.

Reaves was brought in for a specific reason. To be 4th line RW instead of Lafferty. And then Reaves was overpaid to the extent that we needed to trade Lafferty due to cap constraints. Reaves has been terrible in that 4th line RW job, and we've been forced to bench him. While we may not be able to get out of his contract, every time he's in the lineup, we will be worse for it.

No, Gregor won the job over Lafferty. But yeah, Reeves was broughtvin for an on ice enforcer and off ice glue guy. He is getting paid fairly.

I believe he had two main tasks, change the culture and tank for Matthews. IMO he fulfilled those.

Not concerned with what he did with other organizations, they all have different mandates.

Hes the gluiest guy around. Nobody can perk up the boys like Reavo
We haven't seen that yet in Toronto. However, like you say he does have that reputation l though I think you are slightly hyberbolic when you claim that no one can do it like Reavo.

Lou Lam orchestrated a last overall finish and the drafting of Auston Matthews who is likely the best goal scorer in the game.

If and when the Leafs have any real playoff success Auston is going to have to be a big factor in that and Leaf Nation fans will know who it was that will get the true credit even if Treliving's name is the GM of record on his latest contract. :wg:

The real trick is going to be to be able to surround him with enough talent by managing the cap correctly, and a big cap relief is coming when Tavares $11 mil contract ends after 2 more seasons, while we simply attempt to make the best of a bad Cap suffocating situation during transition.

Mark down the 2025-26 season where BT has passed all test. :wg:

 Reaves is garbage no doubt but some of the comments about him are so simple minded. Certainly dumber than mourning the loss of Lafferty
