Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

James Tanner, is that you?

I remember when James Tanner told me Kadri was a franchise center, Gardiner was a franchise D, and Reimer was a franchise goalie.

Despite having 3 franchise players, at least according to him he could not answer why the team was in last place.

Horrible job by Treliving so far this deadline.

He missed out on the big fish he really wanted. So settled on a different big fish. Ending up with a tuna instead of a shark

The most celebrated thing about this trade is how cheap Lyubushkin will be.

After retention Leafs will be paying less than league minimum. I've always been a big believer you get what you pay for. If you pay minimum wage you should only expect minimum work.

So what does that mean when you pay even less?

It doesn't matter if there is another move yet to come either. Doubling down now would just be expensive and stupid. This was a bad trade.

But at least the Leafs have a monopoly on elite #6 defensemen.
I love reading your posts man please keep up the good work.

For the right price they should be willing to trade anybody, but the man has proven for YEARS he's clueless.

At least since 2016.

Kadri, Gardiner and Reimer franchise players.......................Holy shit

Jim Tanner is on the verge of being hospitalized for a nervous breakdown.

His hero and mentor Kyle Dumbass is an abject failure in Pittsburgh and has been exposed badly as an incompetent fraud.

Meanwhile, the Leafs are playing better than at any point during the Dumbass era thanks to the astute moves of the new GM.

It’s the worst possible outcome for Jim Tanner.

Agree 100% - - it’s not just a lack of cohesion from the new players but it disrupts the chemistry by taking away guys who have been there all year.

Not to mention the ridiculous cost for a mediocre rental player.

The Leafs have been playing fantastic hockey over the past six weeks - - why make a bunch of panic moves just for the sake of saying you’re “active” at the deadline?

I would be okay with not making another move. Never felt that way until these past few weeks, but I feel we are finally turning a corner with everyone starting to find their role and play up to their potential. Woll back is just an added bonus.

He has nothing to trade and no cap to work with. A late first and Niemela won't get you much and then you expect them to retain. Every year they overhyped TD. Every year it's has little to no impact.

Man I wish people would stop saying that because it's bullshit.

You got teams like Florida, Tampa and Boston in on Hanifin, and they don't have 1st round picks for multiple years in a row, in Florida case their next 1st is in 2027, Tampa is 2026, and Boston either 2025 or 2026.

Yet all 3 teams are supposedly in on Hanifin.

Now I'm not suggesting I want Hanifin, I don't because he isn't going to sign here.

What I am suggesting is that while the Leafs aren't overflowing with assets comepared to the teams I mentioned they are chalked full.

There is the 2024 1st which neither team has.

They have their 2026 1st which Florida doesn't have

Easton Cowan and Fraser Minten are high value prospects especially Cowan.

They have Knies, Woll and Robertson already on the roster, not that they would trade Knies and Woll that's 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% not going to happen.

They have 8 picks in the coming draft.

Again not saying overflowing with assets there are certainly teams with a lot more.

But the idea that the Leafs have no young players coming or nothing to trade is simply not true.

They have A LOT more than the top 3 teams supposedly in on Hanifin, which means if they wanted to they could go get Hanifin, and if that's true, and it is then they can acquire any player available at this deadline.

Your poor tear ducts. If something in my life made me cry this much, I'd avoid it like the plague.

Thats what I get since last playoffs, as i just don't think the team can ever be better on paper than that.
Yet, it is all about the top guys coming through. IF AM, MM, JT, and Willie don't play to their best. Leafs won't go anywhere.
Really hope each of them would just dominate one game each per series and if that happens, there is a good chance Leafs will win the Cup.

we have our

1st
Knies
Cowan

as quality assets to move

after that it's empty , so tell us who you want Tre to acquire that is worth totally wiping out pretty much all our potential higher end futures

Considering what TB traded Jeannot for in last year TDL, what would you ask if you are the Flames? I think just linking TB in any trade talks will increase the price. Kind of glad Leafs is not in it, bc I don't want to hear the talking heads kept saying, Tre sucks bc we could have gotten Hannifin......

Zach Hyman with 42 goals on the year now with 23 games left to play. Zach might hit 56. Was this a Dubas flub or a Tree flub?

I wanted Tanev as much as anybody but not trading a 1st round pick for him was the right call, especially when there is a pretty good chance you are going to get him in free agency, I'd be tempted to bet on that.

If you don't get him in free agency oh well still the the right call that 1st round pick if it is traded needs to be traded for a player with term, there isn't a difference maker rental out there this year so if that pick is traded this year there needs to be an Adam Larsson coming back, or Jamie Olesiak, or Mario Ferrero, Jacob Chcyrun etc, somebody with at least another year left on their contract.

Now if this time next year comes and Tampa sucks, or Florida sucks and either Hedman or Ekblad hit the trade market that's different you take the 2026, 2027, 2028 1sts ect and you do whatever it takes to acquire either because they would be difference makers.

But this year that difference maker, at least in terms of UFA's is there so if the 2024 1st is moved the player coming back has to have term.
