Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

So that's really what is bothering you on a Monday morning? That a woman has a great job, that you don't understand, so you thought you'd rant about it?
No I want her not to be a token. She spends a lot of time on outside interests. If Brad did that you would complain.

..and you know that these outside interests aren't part of her job how? How have you concluded she is a token, and doesn't add value to the organization?

Most of all, how does any of this affect you in any way?

I know she has great pedigree, just trying find out wtf she does. Her doctor and kinesiologyhas no effect on her funtion that appears obvious.. If what you say is true she seems to have value.
I'm just curious why not question what Pridham, Clancy, Metcalf or Hardy (the other AGMs) do?
Or even more ambiguous roles like that of Shane Doan or Dave Morrison

It affects me because of my love of the Leafs. I don't want tokenism, I want cups. And what does my opinion have any effect on your a??.why are you so bent out of shape. Would you defend Shanny or Brad with same vigor, or do you think she cannot stand up gor herself.
I simply asked, if she us a vp, what is she doing other than minor hockey appearances.

Her front page visibility on other non Leaf matters often or always overshadows her job?
I detest tokenism in any form.
Like Bettman appointments of head of discipline. 2000 punches to the head required to be appointed.
I respect her, I want her to get given hard, valued work. She can be a positive in this organization.

The Maple Leafs have multiple assistant general managers.

Curious that only this one requires this deep dive. Are you not curious what the other AGM's do, or is it only Hayley?

Interesting that you keyed in on her. Gee, I wonder why?

Yeah it's a real mystery why he selected just Hayley for this line of questioning. . .

A lot of people were saying that Hyman was going to break down at some point and not be worth the money. I looked at it like he was going to go on LTIR...so no risk really as far as contract goes. We let him go for $500k or so..... That's when Dubas took a stand...not on Marner or Matthews...but a lousy 500k on Hyman. So stupid.
dubas messed up alot .and if he screws around in pittsburgh fenway sports has never been shy about eating money

!00% agree. She needs a strong role, she can add value, not just tokenism. Not spending team time with minor hockey. Has she actually graduated med school?

What makes you assume she does nothing/has little responsibility, little authority?

She's the AGM in charge of Player Development.
She oversees the development team (Danielle Goyette, Nik Antropov, Rich Clune, Denver Manderson, Paul Matheson, Curtis McElhinney, Michele Moore Davison, Patrick O’Sullivan, Tomas Pacina, and Joe Underwood) and acts as the go-between with their needs and Treliving/Shanahan, covering players in junior, college, overseas, and pro.

Before her in the role was Scott Pellerin - an individual that I'm sure was not called out for having his title unearned nor accused of only being there for a smile...
They just updated all of the titles (Senior Director of Player Development ->Assistant General Manager, Player Development) to make the internal structure more consistent.

As for unearned...
She studied kinesiology and the human body, with a focus in athletics, and is a resident medical doctor - so safe to say she understands the human body and how to safely and properly push it and develop it.
She famously founded WickFest, a hockey skills clinic for both coaches and players.
She worked her way up through the organization starting as a skills coach, then assistant director of player development, before settling in as Senior/AGM.

Oh, yeah, and she's also just a multi-sport athlete, 6 time Olympian, first female skater to play men's pro, Team Canada all-time leader, and regarded as one of (if not the) best female hockey player ever - so she may know just a little bit about hockey and developing as an athlete.
I did not know Nick Antropov and Patrick O Sullivan worked for the team

My guess is the may media seek her out more than some others because of her history, and is someone who has been in the spotlight for decades.

"Before the game we'll chat with Derek/Darryl who?"
Yeah, whatever.

"Before the game we'll chat with Curt Browning about his new role as dive instructor."
I'll watch that!

If we wanted to ask a more pertinent question, it might be, "Where has she made an impact?"
There should be an answer to that.
However, that same question should be asked about everyone in the organization. Just basic accountability.
Just spit balling (making up poop).
1. Has improved communications between player and trainers
2. Has shown a 15% improvement in the return from injury timeline due to blah blah blah
3. Has reduced the cost of recovery blah blah
That's just normal review of efforts.

We could ask whether their previous skating coach made the Leafs the best skating club in the NHL, or was it just that person was a previously well known professional skater? We used to hear all the time skating coach will correct that "name the issue", but was there any measurable improvement that was greater than any/all other teams?

Can we point at Nylander and say, he really benefited from ... or would his skating be this elite just based on genetics?

If you have no idea what she's doing, there's zero reason to think she's not a positive.

Shouldn't the leafs be keeping the weather of knowledge internally?

Gotta give credit where credit is due. Now that we're close to the halfway point of the season, his UFA signings have been quite excellent.

Jones - Superb pickup here, he's saved our season. This player is getting re-signed 100%.

Benoit - Just the bite we needed in the Defense. Fills the gap Muzzin left behind beautifully.

Bertuzzi & Domi - Both took time to settle in, but have turned out to be great additions and while nothing fantastic, they are certainly not causing any issues with the team, and also add some much-needed character.

Reaves - Ok probably a miss here, but can't deny the team is tougher now. He was always an off-ice signing anyway if we're being honest.

Klingberg - Miss, but the injury made it a wash. Rielly easily recaptured the role on PP1 and we found out what the team needed was Benoit anyway, so in a way, it's a win.

Gregor - The added speed he brings on the 4th line and PK has been incredible. Gregor has been a huge addition to the bottom 6. Easy decision to re-sign.

Lagesson - Solid depth D option. No complaints here, either.

My only point of disagreement is the suggestion that Benoit fills the gap left by Muzzin's departure. Benoit is a solid 6 / 7 who brings some needed physicality. No argument we needed that, but Muzzin was a top pair guy when healthy. If we still had him, there'd be very little talk of the need to add a dman at the trade deadline.

I like Benoit but he does not fill the Gap left by Muzzin, that's simply not true.

You claim to detest tokenism, but clearly don't actually know what it is.

Funny how all your issues are with a woman, not any men.

Thank you doctor Spock. Assuming you are a man," I have a problem with you Krugar".
So your theory is dispelled.
