Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

I think Timmins is going to be one of the pieces involved in whatever trade for a defensive upgrade they do make.

Obviously Timmins won't be the main piece but I do think he will be traded.

Treliving didn't bring him in so he's got no loyalty to him.
What team needs offence from the D bad enough that they can live with the defensive weaknesses………..

Leafs signed John Klingberg and I'm sure there are GMs out there stupider than Treliving. So there is some hope for trading Timmins. All Tre has to do is compile a list of GMs from the smartest to the stupidest and start calling GMs from the bottom of the list and working his way up.

Lindros never wanted to play in QC, not a great exemple

how many cup wings won by keeping yzerman? washington with ovechkin?
avs with mackinnon they didn't trades him because they didn't had any kind of succes first 8 years
florida with barkov after won only 1 series in first 9 barkov season?

Your better to keep your best player especially when this player could maybe become one day best goal scorer in NHL history
Lindros is a great example. #1OA. The fact that he did not want to play for Quebec gave other teams leverage to lowball the Nords yet the Nords still made out like bandits.

I agree it is risky to deal a franchise player, but I do not agree you are guaranteed to get worse if you trade him.

you taking your offer you said

rantanen+ toews + prospect

rantanen+ toews at 17M are you better than exemple matthews at 13.25 and brodie at 3.75/4M by exemple? for me its an easy no

So, Treveling did it. He put himself in a position where when Liljegren returns he isn't pressured to make a bad trade.Klingberg is gonzo and we don't have give up Robertson. My guess he has offered a 2nd for Tanev and won't up that offer much. Without Robertson that 3rd line gets bland fast.

talking about a 1st in a matthews trade is like focussing for a 3th pick in a trade involving a guy like oreilly...its not exactly what who will move the needle, sorry
Ranta, Byram or toews, a first and a top prospect for Matty and his cap hit is not chopped liver. Will never happen but nothing to sneeze at.

and finish without any top 6 center in 3-4 season?

if you only taking in term of value... maybe but in term of impact its a disaster

Brad has a lot to do and I don't think he can fill all the holes in-season.
1 top-4 D (possibly 2 depending on Brodie)
1G
3C
Not soo much the goalie maybe give the swede rook a chance to see if we need an upgrade there but for sure I trade Brodie grab tanev and peeke just solid dman and then of course the 3c

Absolutely. I think he knows it's gonna tale some years. Probably why he plugged a bunch of 1 year guys into the lineup. He'll need a few more offseasons to really make his mark.

Love the character on the team though. They're really not that easy to beat, regardless of what happens during the game.

I don't get how people can hate Dubas when the guy built the majority of what is one of the best teams in the league. He made mistakes like anyone else, but the obsession is strange.
It's always side picking here. I've been pro-Dubas, but can admit he made some tough mistakes and a few too many at that. Those who say he left this team in a dire situation/mess are just exaggerating too far to prove a point against him and stick to their side.

I'm sure countless GMs would have loved to come into this situation. Plenty of previous talent to work with. Tight to the cap but also very close to having tons of space, not saddled for years. Less draft and prospect capital than you'd want, but again not dire and fairly par for the course for a contending team.

Again he made errors, learned a little slowly, but to say he left/put the team in rough shape is wild. There is so much that can be done with this team with what is and isn't there.

I think most see him as the GM being gifted a great team and wasting the opportunity. His arrogance in failure makes him dislikable (hate is too strong a word) for many but I think most are just frustrated at the wasted opportunity.

Those obsessed with him are definitely strange though. I don't think I've ever seen (in any sport) a GM have a fan club.
