Can't wait until I never have to see him on the power play again.

Man, I feel bad for the guy. He's clearly trying, he hasn't been able to put it together, he's not a player who's streaky like this, he just can't seem to find it.

He was rocking for the last 10 games or so of the season, but it's like he's undone all of that progress.

I'm a Rangers fan, and I'm rooting REAL hard for Richards to pull out of the slump.

I don't get some of the hate thrown at the players. It's like people think that the players don't want it worse than they do. I promise you B-Rich isn't any happier with his play than we are.

Yeah yeah, he's making millions of dollars. So maybe I don't feel THAT bad for the son of a *****, but I still hate seeing one of our own players slump like this.

Exactly how I feel. I too wanted him for one more season as a stop-gap for someone like Lindberg.

At this point we might as well just throw Lindberg into the fire and hope he succeeds. I think he will. He's been advertised as good defensively. Much better than what Richards is right now. If Lindberg can come in and have a Stepan-like impact (Stepan's first year) or even just hold down the fort defensively I think we'd be better off than having Richards there taking another roster spot and crippling our cap flexibility for nothing.

i wish Lindberg was on NYR along with Fasth... they would add more scoring...

Every aspect of his game has gone downhill as a Ranger. His cap hit could be better used for some depth defensemen and/or goal scoring wingers.

I'm with you. I still give him a chance to get it together next season with a real off-season to work with. What kills is that he's been an excellent PP scorer his entire career and we don't exactly have a PP. But I think his scoring goes up, along with his confidence, if we had even a slightly decent PP. It would honestly have the entire team gripping the sticks a lot more relaxed.

He's one of the main reasons that we have a crappy powerplay.

He was brought in to QB the PP.

He has not.

Nothing personal, but I don't think Brian Leetch could make this PP work. It's all perimeter, predictable as ****, there is no useful movement whatsoever from the players without the puck, and it has no structure which results in it having no ability to adapt to different PKs and guys moving around like headless zombies with no clue. If the guys without the puck aren't doing anything useful, ever, and all you ever have is a pass down the wall or to the other point, no one can QB this PP and do anything with it.

Brassard, Zucc, Moore have all looked good controlling the PP in the time they've been given. Richards looks horrible there. It's no coincidence our two PP goals this series have come from a PP unit that did not have Richards on it.

I throw hate at performance not the actual players unless they are named Dogkiller Vick. I'd spit in his face if I saw him in real life I think that he should still be rotting away behind bars. But that's a bit OT.

And FWIW I'm not trying to make excuses for Richards or say I'm elated with his play. I'm not and I'm not. I'm simply saying I'd like to see what he can do with a real off season and training camp. If that experiment doesn't work I think we can amnesty buy him out next off-season.

And I still don't think Richards or anyone else can fix this PP. That will require new coaches or our current coaches adjusting big time. Because if most coaches had Nash, Richards, Gaborik, Step on a PP... it wouldn't be a bottom of the league PP.

Why do we as fans always pencil in highly touted prospects to step in and get minutes like they're veteran NHL players?

Kreider was supposed to save us, as was Grachev and so on and so forth.

Why must all people have hope and project it onto the future? Because the present sucks and the past was worse the harsh realities of the future have not yet arrived and so we dream...we dream... (if there was a Shakespeare smiley i'd use it)

I don't agree. Our PP is 2-21 against the league's 4th worst PK. No one is doing all that well.

It's OT, but I agree with you completely. I go on about that a bit myself.
As if I needed an extra reason to hate a Philly team.

Our best QQPB has been Brassard in the few games we've had him.

Even Moore had some shining moments on the PP.

At this point, Richards is more of a liability than an asset. He and Nash on the ice simultaneously is a dangerous thing in the defensive zone.

Rick Carpiniello had a chat yesterday. He believes Gorton has taken over the day to day operations on an unofficial basis. The Rangers just didn't tell anyone. If that's the case, who makes the call on Richards? Rangers can't take the risk of Richards getting hurt.

Richards at least has a goal this series, which is more than can be said about Nash and Callahan.

All 3 have been pretty bad, and we wont win this series if that continues in game 6.

Kreider was supposed to save us, as was Grachev and so on and so forth.

Kreider was always advertised as weak defensively and there were a lot of question marks around him disappearing and his hockey IQ.

Grachev was never good in pro hockey. He had 80 points in the OHL playing with Duchene and another top player from that draft.

Lindberg was the best player on his team in the SEL, the top pro league next to the NHL and KHL as a 20yr old kid. He lead them to a championship. Advertised as great defensively. His offense has been somewhat questioned but we don't need him to be a first line center. If he becomes a 2nd line center, great. But as of now we just need him to hold down the fort and chip in on the 3rd line. Not very unreasonable.

Buy him out.

Ugh, should realized that this was going to bite us in the ass, just like all of Sather's other free agent signings (outside of Gaborik).

It's just baffling what happened to this guy. This isn't even akin to the Drury/Gomez/Redden signings — this wasn't a nonsensical signing. It made sense, and it even worked out fairly well last year. A mere year later, Richards is a a shell of a shell of his former self. He is slow, weak, and looks scared every time he steps on the ice. He is a liability, and I think it's a travesty that he wears the "A" — seems kind of fitting, actually, that this team would be "lead" by the 2013 Brad Richards, they're carbon copies of each other.

I really hope this team avoids nearly every big name free agent on the market in the future — if Malkin makes it to FA, I expect the team to go hard after him. And if there was one player I'd be OK with overpaying on the FA market, it's a proven 100+ point player like Malkin.

That being said, I'd say it's a "different situation", but I've learned that no situation is "different" when it comes to the Rangers and FA centers. He'll probably come here and put up 65 point seasons while being a joke of a teammate. Such is the way of the Rangers.

Another yes man in charge. Gorton is nothing more than merely a puppet for Glen Sather.
