I respectfully disagree with you. The "trip" is not suspension worthy considering the "consistency" of the nhl. If players are not held accountable (hearings, suspensions etc), and things are let go here and there, then how does a player know what he can and can't do? Know what I mean?

There were several slew foots in the Calgary-Toronto game a day before the game against Detroit and nothing was done about it. Now, all of a sudden the league decides there is a hearing with Marchand. To me, it seems the league has something against Brad Marchand.

Yes, I do know what you mean and still think he is selfish. We all know he will get noticed and doesn't get equal treatment, so should he not realize this too? Fair or not, he should know better.

Was a stupid play and he'll get punished.

Not going to get too down on him though -- he's angry and acted out. At least he has a pulse.

Kronwall pulled up hard for no reason other than to set pick -- which is what Detroit does.

Given how cheap Detroit was all game, wish Marchand has instead just delivered a nasty cross check to kidneys.

P.s. If Boston brass had any balls they'd make a huge deal of the cross check on Backes into Boards. Given he has a concussion already this season on a borderline hit you'd think DOPS would have an issue with that.

Exactly. Far better to see him lash out than act like a paper tiger. I mean how sad was it to see Chara get housed by a much smaller guy then jump up after the hit when the refs were there and act tough?

It really was a stupid thing to do.

Agreed, I thought so at the time of the incident. Wish that I had saved the DVR recording to go back and look at why Kronwall pulled up just outside the blueline. You can see he's looking to his left like he's looking over his shoulder and then as soon as there is contact with Marchand, Kronwall seems like he's flying in the air like he expected it to happen. He's not the cleanest player IMO either but Marchy should have known better given the current state of the Bruins who can ill afford to lose him for a length of time. At least I hope they look at Kronwall's theatrics as well when determining a punishment but it doesn't look good for Brad.

Marchand is at his best when he walks the line. I for one do not want to see anyone get hurt but I also don't want Marchand to change at all. So we just have to take the good with the bad.

Only reason he was called to the carpet is because he is a repeat offender.

Was Kronwall's slew foot on Bergeron before or after Marchand's slew foot on Kronwall? If it was before, it might be Marchand's way of retaliating.

The hit on Backes was horrible also. Not only was it an illegal check to the back, it was also interference.

Any report yet on what Marchand received if anything?? I'm not defending what he done but saying there was a lot worst going on in that game last night..What ticked me off was Backes gets crosschecked into the boards behind the net and stupid Ref is 5 feet away watching it..If that's reversed, we all know Backes gets a minimum 2 minutes Penalty..

Stupid by Marchand for sure. If the DoPS actually did its job and suspended players for all the slewfoots and illegal hits then I would have no problem with them suspending Marchand. Unfortunately the DoPS is a complete joke and lacks any form of consistency and fairness. The Shaw slewfoot was even more blatant and dangerous than that by Marchy and got nothing. Same for any number of slewfoots that have taken place this year with no punishment. I expect the wheel of justice to spin and, since it's a Bruin, to land on a suspension.

Marchand is cooked on this one and os guilty for sure. But that's not my beef. .It s the NHL targets him big time over others for same crimes.

Andrew Shaw bit a guy before and has a rap sheet longer then Brads yet not even a phone call for same crime..DOPS is a mess.Almost crooked.

They will not make a peep cause JJ on the board and will not allow it is my bet.I say 2 to 5 games for Brad

They should be taking a look at Kronwall's slew foot on Bergeron too

http://streamable.com/mmr53

true however, problem is this, Marchand does his in a far more obvious way, Kronwall`s is just as dangerous, but concealed much better

I hate the slew foot, Subban is the king of them and they are, along with hits from behind, the plays I just cringe at watching.

It was stupid of Marchand to do this, I know he`s frustrated, but his presence on the ice is far more valuable than having him sitting in the press box with a suspension which he`ll get

It will be much more difficult for him to deal with the wrath of his mom who was in attendance than from the NHL. He does find ways to draw attention to himself for all the wrong reasons. Once you develop a reputation for this kind of stuff the microscope comes out.

The more recent examples of slew foots and GT'ers liberties with the blockers going unpunished is maddening. Silence from the NHL on why the inconsistency is also maddening. Not to excuse the actions, but the many, many missed more obvious infractions in a game (this game was no different) often leads to the stupid frustrating retaliation. As always the instigator walks and the retaliator gets the wrath of the officials and the league.

To be fair to Brad, he does not appear to be getting any calls when he is being mugged on the ice.

I guess once a rat always a rat as far as the on ice officials are concerned.

In regards to the Detroit game, Brad was clobbered in front of the Wings' net as the play went back up the ice. It appeared for a second that he was injured.

Love to see a replay of the game to see which occurred first: the mugging or the slew foot-like trip?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess this has been the case for YEARS for this long suffering (I'm sure) woman.

Can you imagine the neighborhood drama a kid like Marchand must have created on a regular basis?

I'm sure his tweet direct at DOPS that he deleted won't work in his favor either.
