I think Superstar status is achieved by multiple elite seasons, which are consistently above what almost everyone else has done. I would call Stamkos a star player, not a superstar. I would say that McDavid will be one.

Seasons of 60, 51, 45 and 43 goals.....3 seasons over 90 pts.

Call me crazy, but that's superior to most mentioned on this page.

Definitely an argument for Stamkos who has the second most goals scored in the last 7 years. and tied for first in GPG,I'll give you that.

Anything borderline the bruins do is an instant suspension, but I've seen subban pull the slewfoot probably 20 times without a suspension and just a few nights ago Tkachuk had a real nasty one on Marincin that goes unpunished, Carrier concussing backes with a headshot, etc

I guess there is consistency in the sense that the Bruins never escape the DoPS' wrath lol

That's the first time I've heard of "dangerous trip" though, like are they making stuff up for marchand? Obviously they don't think he committed slewfoot or they would have just said it in the announcement.

If it is what I recall, he tripped him near the blue line away from the play and after a whistle. Not smart at all...no need for it.

I'd wager he's getting a suspension for this. At least a handful of games. Dumb dumb move, especially with him heading to the All-star Game the weekend.

And it's probably deserved.

My issue if/when he is suspended. How is this any different than the slew-foot by Tkachuk the night before.

Or when Shaw did it to a Buffalo Sabre earlier the year.

A slew-foot, for the most part, is pretty cut and dry. You can debate the intent I suppose.

This league has zero consistency when it comes to handing down discipline.

Very selfish on his part - the Bruins can't afford losses. I remember how he said how bad he felt after hurting the team by not being able to play in the Winter Classic. Looks like he is doing it again. So frustrating because he doesn't need to cross that line.

It's a suspension worthy play, however like others have said it's the consistency that's maddening. I've seen a ton of hits this year that are worse than Pastrnak's early in the year that haven't gotten even a hearing. And I've seen a lot of slewfoots either get only 2 minutes or nothing this year as well.

Suspend all of them or suspend none of them...pretty simple.

I wonder if he will do an Ovechkin and say he isn't worthy of the All Star Game if he gets suspended. Ovi did that in 2012 in Ottawa.

Not a big deal. I don't mind Marchy doing that.

Heck, they got away with boarding Backes away from the play without even a minor penalty.

A 'dangerous trip'. How they've lowered the standards to accommodate Marchand.

McQuaid alone has been slew footed about three times this season without a penalty or suspension.

That's not really a slew foot. There is no pitchfork involved, so it was more of just a trip. It was still pretty stupid.

The lack of consistency drives me bonkers as well. Subban has literally gotten away with 5 or 6 bad slewfoots that were all suspendable.

We all know he's a highly talented player, but he can do some bad bad plays as well, and those annoy me.

There was no reason for that play and he has a reputation, so probably looking at games here.

DoPS has to have a clear agenda. Tkachuk has multiple slewfoots, one ending in injury. Andrew Shaw had an intentional one after just returning from suspension. Tom eilson can hit Moore in the numbers after sering it the whole way. All nothing.

DoPS is garbage and has been for ages.

It's reached the point where you say this is not about disciplining a player for a particular incident, this is ABOUT disciplining THE player.

Why wasn't there nothing done in the Toronto-Calgary game? Nothing on Emelin for his low bridge hit on Marchand, who has been suspended for that kind of hit before.

Ridiculous.

I respectfully disagree with you. The "trip" is not suspension worthy considering the "consistency" of the nhl. If players are not held accountable (hearings, suspensions etc), and things are let go here and there, then how does a player know what he can and can't do? Know what I mean?

There were several slew foots in the Calgary-Toronto game a day before the game against Detroit and nothing was done about it. Now, all of a sudden the league decides there is a hearing with Marchand. To me, it seems the league has something against Brad Marchand.
