Just my take - not defending anyone - NHL DOPS is calling it a "dangerous trip" not a slew-foot. If that is their definition, then you can see why they only fined him. Slew-footing is kicking the skates out from under a guy. I guess they saw him make contact with the leg and decided it wasn't a slew-foot, and thus less dangerous because there is less chance for major injury due to the head hitting the ice. Not sure if I agree, but the fact they call it a trip may be a hint to their reasoning.

Anyway . . . Yay us! ;)

It's because he's a star now. He's not yet in Subban territory, though, so he can't do three or four of them a year and get away with it. ;)

“I feel very fortunate. It's a huge game tonight for our team and I'm very excited I get to be a part of it,” said Marchand.

“I definitely have to make some smarter decisions at times,” said Marchand. “The last thing I want to be doing is continuing to go back in front of those guys. I'm sure they're sick of seeing me, so instances like last game, they can be avoided. Just smarter decisions. Something I'll continue to work on.”

“For sure. That's a little bit of stupidity there, a little unnecessary,” said Marchand. “I can play the game without doing that stuff. I just have to be aware of it all the time.”

Happy to see him having some awareness and realizing he is too important to the team to be pulling stunts that can get him suspended. He has been the main driver for the last two wins and is a great competitor.

63 is HEATING UP!

Bigger the game usually the better he plays.I remember watching him in Junior for Val D'or and his team was down 3 -1 in games. He scored winner in OT twice to knot it and again in final game scored as they won game 7 by 2--1 .Here is the kicker though Fans hated him and he was not really rubbing it in their faces .Just something about him I guess.Chris Letang was the ignorant one giving middle finger to crowd during that series yet in NHL he is one that is loved Go figure

Marchand is a player that every team in the NHL wishes they have. He's also a player that every fantasy owner wishes they drafted. I hope Boston makes the playoffs so I can see him in action.

Only got credited with the 2 goals last night...could have sworn he got the assist on Bergy's goal though...

Very underrated player career wise so far (mostly from non Bruins fans). Only one season where he had under 20 goals (18 in 45 in the lockout year) since his rookie season.

He caught a break. Thats good news.

I don't know if break is the right word. Watching it from the high angle looked suspect, but once I saw the lower, closer angle, there really is nothing there at all. That happens 4-5 times a game with no uproar. He escaped the witch hunt, for now, though.

Marchand disagrees with you:

“I think they might have given me a bit of a break,†Marchand said. “I’m just happy to play the game tonight and move on.â€
