But, he would be 40 at the end of the deal
Oh sorry I’m doing stuff not focused ….i wasn’t giving him 3 years I was referring to 2 or 3 N or circus peanuts or whatever they were offering

2 years is generous

Anything under his present AVV is ridiculous based on what he’s producing and the rise in cap

Why he’s a 65 points guy

He should be getting minimum his current contract but 7 M

I wouldn’t take 5 M
I disagree. Marchessault who's a couple years younger and similar player got $5.5. I think $5.0 was more than fair given his age and injury history. Guys like Chara, Bergeron, Krejci, all went year to year at the end for way less. That contract would have taken him to 40 and finished his career in Bruins sweater. He wasn't going to get a market deal. There's a give and take, you don't get a long term deal at market AAV.

Habs fan here. Marchand is one of my favorite players of all time. If that little bastard is not unanimously inducted into the NHL HOF on the first attempt? We have problems. Sorry for your loss B fans.
I don't see him being a first ballot, let alone unanimous decision. But he should definitely get in at some point. His resume is worthy.

He was probably looking for a Joe Pavelski like contract, 3x7, which he is worth in my opinion. The issue is that the Bruins are a lot further than a Joe Pavelski or Brad Marchand away to dedicate that much cap to a player that shouldn't be, at his age, their 2nd best scorer. I would still like to see him come back though.

The Bruins organization noticeably leads the NHL over a long period by moving out superstars. Whether the beginning, middle or nearing end of their career, it seems that the Bruins continually break the hearts of the faithful fans by trading away the biggest names to wear the spoked-B. For various reasons the team has moved on from some of the games most talented players. Why is it the Bruins that always has to shock the hockey world with these moves?? In my time as a fan-
…Orr, Espo, Bourque, Thornton, Seguin, Lucic, Chara and now Marchand..😫

If it becomes 2028 1st, that could be quite interesting. The Panthers are a really strong team now, but in 3,5 years? Who knows? That’s a long time and they can be a bottom feeder again by then. Or so we can hope.

Absolute dream scenario is that Toronto crashes next year (Marner and Tavares leaving as UFAs, and Mathews gets injured or something) and we get a high 2026 pick, then same thing happens to Florida in 2027-2028.

Not sure if this has been posted or not, but Emily Kaplan of ABC stated
at the beginning of the Flyers/Seattle game today that the Marchand trade
was an accommodation trade to an East coast team so that he could
be relatively close to family. She also said that Marchand also preferred
the Panthers because a lot of his former team mates were there (think
Thornton, Boqvist, Greer) so the move would be more comfortable
for him. Kaplan also reported that management had approached ownership
about a three year extension and were given the green light for that. She
did not mention anything about dollar value. Given all that, I would not
be surprised to see Marchand back with the Bruins in July (my take).

You have to think he saw the contracts for 91 and 28 - and how that’s panned out and wondered why he shouldn’t get a good boost too.

But maybe Brad was done here? This has to have been awful year for him mentality to try to lead this group and really Sweeney didn’t help either the lack of veteran leadership they were missing. Look at the roster and the character guys they’ve had the last 5-10 years and compare that to this year. I don’t mean talent, I mean leadership. They have moved a lot of that out. That puts pressure on Brad. Add to that two coaches this year who went after him a few times, maybe be just said ok I’ll move on thanks. I think the chance for him to come back this summer is very very slim.

I was on vacations, just saw this news. What a shock ! A player I absolutely love to hate, and I really can't imagine him in another jersey than the B's. Wouldn't be surprised if he resign with you this summer.

Man so refreshing to be free of Carlo Coyle and Freddy. I know they've each had their moments and are OK overall NHLers and Bruins but each of them were having Kasper Daugivens deking on an empty net bad seasons.
