Imagine captain Brad Marchand hoisting the Cup.

Thankfully the Bruins aren't gonna be good enough to have to worry about that.

Chara and Bergeron were hockey icons for a decade. Nothing against Marchand but he's not exactly known for a good reputation around the league. I personally would have given it to McAvoy.
15 years with the Bruins, majority of that spent directly side by side with Bergeron. Guy is a warrior out there night in and night out. You can argue a HOF resume, too.

I don't see how it's weird.

I think he just doesn't have the correct disposition or demeanor for it. Frequently fined, suspended, losing his cool on the ice, taking bad penalties, etc.

It's just a letter though.

Marchand is the player you love when he is on your team but hate him on an opposing team.

Congrats to Mr. Splinter!

1x Stanley Cup
1x World Cup Gold
1x 100 point season
5x 80+ point seasons
6x PPG seasons
5x 30 goal seasons
3x Top 10 finishes
2x First Team All Star
2x Second Team All Star
3x Stanley Cup Finals
2x WJC Gold
6x Team leader in points

He holds significant Bruins records:
- Most OT goals in history
- Most shorthanded goals in history
- Most playoff elimination goals in history

He has been a consistently high level playoff performer and, barring injuries, will finish with over 1000 points and 400 goals.

Sounds like a HHOF resume to me.

Rat King is already the best captain in the league.

love it!

I get the push back for him losing his emotions on the ice sometimes.

But Marchand is one of the hardest workers in the league. Also, the Chara started culture of no cliques and acceptance continually leads to great locker rooms and buy in. Marchand will continue that.

You could also argue that Boston needs more fiesty and less Bergeron professionalism.

Makes sense.

Didn't feel like they had another option at the moment.

McAvoy perhaps after Marchand?
Mac will probably be next but isn't ready yet.

Brad is the clear leader on the Bs . He speaks to the players, coaches and stripes (and they listen). He sets up plays and per someone in the know "holds the room". He gives 100% every shift and sets a great example in how he stays in shape.

I am thrilled for Marchy and the Bs. He is a great choice.

Worst captain between Trouba and Marchand?
Brad will be an excellent captain
