I think for Gio they'd be okay giving him the extra few hundred thousand he'd be looking for versus fighting tooth and nail for Bouma's deal. It's one thing to sign your number one defenseman and completely other thing in not wanting to give up too much for a third line grinder.

the aritrator has 48 hours to give a verdict and it has to be above 3.77 or something like that to walk away

Yeah all we know (most likely) is that they didn't come to an agreement today, and will defer to the arbitrator's decision.

And since Bouma asked for $2.5 million, I don't think the arbitrator is able to go higher than that, so no walking away.

They do have a lot of D, but Russell would really help them, moving the puck and what not. Schenn is traditionally more of a C, their biggest hole up front is on LW. Maybe Bouma is appealing to them? I doubt it, but you never know, perhaps we add a pick or do Colborne over Boums.

We just had a talk in the armchair thread on why Philly doesn't need any stop gap defense. Hell they already have too many defenseman as it is. Most are crap but that's not the point. They have a ton of young guys coming up and no room.
