I'm calling Bouma, 3 years @ 2 million per. If he wants more, let him walk and sign that Glencross guy for less money :sarcasm:

I'd be okay going up to 2.2 over 3 years.
6.6/3 year deal.

He just fits out identity like a glove. Can't really argue with a third liner that plays solid defence, lays his body on the line and can chip in some goals (clearly not 16, but 10 isn't unimaginable going forward).

I could live with that for sure. I ask myself though, where do the Flames see him or want him playing in the near future. If they say in the top 6, I'd say that's because they view others have or will fail to make our roster, I don't see that being the case.

I love Bouma, a lot. But he shouldn't be a top 6 guy so we have to make sure he's paid accordingly. Anyways Treliving isn't a fan, he's his boss and I fully expect he will pay him accordingly.

Absolutely. He's in a top six role, simply because we aren't incredibly deep at any position at this time except centre. He's be best down on the third line; and he should be there as early as next season (2016-2017).

I want him here for a long time, I just don't want him to be overpaid because he's a fan favourite. But without a doubt he's a huge part of our team.

If Bouma won't settle for something below 2M/3yrs, they should talk to the Avs or some other team with a dumb management. We don't want a Prust/Dorsett-like situation in the future and I think Treliving knows that.

I said do not go over 2, well if they met in the middle that's where they would be. Bouma is worth what he's asking for to the Flames, but because of his role he shouldn't be paid that. Get him at 2 or less.

I was worried Bouma was going to be asking for over 3 million (and perhaps he was initially). 2.5 isn't unreasonable, but I'd like to see it come in at 2 or less.

And again, you always start above where you actually hope to end up in your initial ask. So a multi-year deal around $2M should be in the cards I think.

Yup, that sounds about right. That's awesome. As I said previously in this thread, I'd be okay with 2.2/year even, if we can get that number to around 2 million over 3-4 years; that'd be money. Bouma is a major role-player on this team, and at that value, that's pretty fair.

I think 2 would be fair on a 1-2 year deal. Would like to see less than that. While he had a good year that's year 16 goals is more then he has ever scored in his entire hockey career if I'm not mistaken. He's still a role player, a very good one at that, but if you're paying 2+ you have to produce a little as well. Who knows maybe he puts up similar numbers as last year again.

I think he should get 1.5x3, 1.75x2 or 2x1, depending whether he prefers security or a higher annual salary.

I think he should get 1.5x3, 1.75x2 or 2x1, depending whether he prefers security or a higher annual salary.

The problem with that is that he would be expcting his salary to go up over time, especilly since he hits UFA in 2 years.

He's getting $1.5M this year at a minimum. He would likley get more in arbitration next year if he has any kind of year.

And he's at risk to get an arbitration award this year of $2M or more.

If he would accept any of those numbers you propose, he would have been signed by now.

When you are dealing with pre-UFA years, the AAV actually goes up the longer the term.
