Offense, defence, goaltending needs to click at the same time. Like any other team.

They need to bring in more toughness and skill at the deadline. Getzlaf, Coleman, Hyman, Ekholm, Oleksiak type players... guys that are not just tough but skilled.

We also need a goalie.

It's a lot. We're a good team but we need 2-3 more guys. 2 of those players and a goalie could go a long way and puts us in the hunt for an opportunity to win.

Savard got his career ended while the most intimidating fighter in the league at the time was on the ice, are we still going to pretend getting punched a couple times is in any way a deterrent? The refs won't let anyone get beat up bad enough to matter, your only risk is getting concussed if you fall.

Having someone run their stars back is the only potential deterrent, and even then you just start an arms race that puts the rest of your stars in more danger.

If someone like Simmonds grabbed Yamamoto after the Marner incident that likely stops/discourages a guy like him, but would also put a target on our smaller skilled guys by some meatheads too.
