Boudreau comes out and says it. "The Leafs aren't built for the playoffs."

I mean we'll see I suppose. These playoffs will be arguably the most favorable to us since this core was first formed. No President's trophy winner, no real Cup contender, and no lengthy 5 month break.

We still have over a month before we'll know for sure whether this team is "built for the playoffs" or not, and still haven't passed the trade deadline so additions can still be made. Until then though this narrative will continue to persist, and there's nothing the Leafs can really do about it until the puck drops in Game 1 of whatever series we're in.

Dubas said he was going to make the team more difficult to play against and his answer was to replace Cliffy with Simmonds and add Bogo to the D. Bogo has been great but Simmonds and Cliffy are a wash. The rest of his adds are no more difficult to play against as any other player on the roster other than Kappy, who could be a pain in the side when he wanted to be.

Agreed. He made it sound like he was going to re-invent the bottom 6...but barely any changes were made. Replaced Clifford with Simmonds. And then added Vesey, who didn't do anything at all. I guess we replaced him with Galchenyuk which is better.

But still, that bottom 6 is still the same level of grit.

If your going be all negative, get your facts right.
Also close this thread. The intentions were clear

Whether you agree with him or not, a point was made. Does this team have the grit/ pushback needed for success in the playoffs. Do we really just need a Granlund?

This isn't about Boudreau, it's about what do the Leafs need to go deep into the playoffs?

I don't think we should take you seriously considering you were wrong about Boudreau winning a cup. I have trust Dubas will continue to make the right decisions.
No point was made.

Should've traded for Nick Ritchie when we had the chance. Hate that the Bruins got him. He's been one of Boston's few bright spots so far.

Perfect type of player to compliment our forward group. Was a Hometown Kid as well

I really don't get why people are being so defensive about it. We don't know for sure if this team will win in the playoffs or not. It's an opinion about them, that Leafs need prove wrong. They have not to date.

Get off your high horse. The debate is,what do the Leafs need to go deep? Cause it ain't Granlund. I'm also not convinced our defense is the issue.

You can't tell me to do that when you clearly didn't about Boudreau's achievements. Tough to take you seriously

Thats not the point. Boudreau has always defended the Leafs, and now he isn't? Funny enough right after he didn't get the job. Then you have the OP bringing up his cup he hasn't even won.

I'd like them to be tougher, but I'd also want it from our top end players. Would have been nice to see Marner give something back to Yamamoto the other night, but it's not in him. Willy is the same and neither JT or Matthews are "mean", even if they're both more physical

The tougher additions, especially upfront, really haven't been good lately. We could dump Simmonds and Thornton tomorrow and arguably be a better team. They've both played their way out of the top 6.

Also worth noting our two big issues lately have been scoring and goaltending. You could argue the same last playoffs. We control play, generate good (more frequent) chances, but didn't convert then and don't concert enough lately.

I wonder if it's a soft scoring winger he's talking about to help us "build" for the playoffs

Boudreau recently came out and said it. The Leafs don't have the pushback to win the cup. Can Dubas saves his job or is he just too in love with soft , small players who get negated in the tougher playoffs. This team could have trouble with Edmonton, Winnipeg(Dubois) or even a red hot Carey price.

Interested in comments because do we want Dubas to trade the future and scuttle the boat for a new GM?
We need a link dude.

What does Bruce Boudreau know about playoff success???

I do think this team has holes. But I do think we have options to fill some of those holes. Hell if we can put Freddie on LTIR till the playoffs we have the cap space and assets to fill a lot of those holes.

When did he even say this? Was this within the past week? A month ago? A quick google doesn't yield much. The most relevant link is an interview from over a month ago.

hard not agree with him, it was pretty embarrassing watching Tavares getting manhandled by the oilers the last 2 games and not a single player did anything about it... we will get pushed around big time in the playoffs, it will take its toll on the team
