Boudreau comes out and says it. "The Leafs aren't built for the playoffs."

I'm not digging any hole, except in your head, rent free. I'm curious what the fans think we need to acquire before TD to make a deep run. You seem to have a weird obsession for reading what isn't there and looking for red herrings.

I'm interested in hearing from fans, what we need and what is the cost? Not talking to Pejorative Slured factcheckers who make false accusations and then think they are smart. Dubas says we are going for it, so what do we need to go for it? We may not get a better chance than this year.

What do you think we need?

If we add it does have to be guys that are not afraid to give out hard hits, and hit often because that is what they like doing. A goalie would be better but I just don't see that possibility.

So why did you put that Boudreau quote if you just wanted a discussion? And then you defended that quote by lying? Don't back track now. You have a wierd obsession for spinning the point.

I liked the Foligno and Jenner suggestion but wonder the cost.
Who do you think they replace and where would it help?

I'm not opposed to adding either (or both). I'd like them pushing Thornton and likely Engvall out of the regular top 12.

Okay I'll bite and go on a rant here...

I think considering the cap Dubas did well to bring in some toughness and skill. Yes Simmonds, Spezza, Thornton, are older... but they've played plenty of playoff hockey. I think you'll see them go up a notch in the playoffs.

Definitely we can still use some more sand paper with skill. That isn't easy to aquire though with a tight cap and pandemic going on. Every team would love that. Put a Hyman on every line.

I think Dubas will do something but I don't know about a blockbuster.

Can you seriously fault what Dubas has done since he's come. Some of his contracts aren't perfect but he's been pretty transparent for a Leaf GM and he actually shows emotion. He gives a shit. You may not like the big 4 but he got them all signed.

It hasn't been near perfect but he's made some nice moves too. The Muzzin and Campbell trade was and is still huge. Brodie is a massive key signing. Guy has been unreal. The D is in better shape then I've seen in a shit ton of years. Lilly and Sandin can actually marinate. Maybe they get traded for what Dubas will say is for a legit cup run... we'll see.

Hell even Nylander the other night was out greasing guys behind the net ... yeah against the so called tough Edmonton team who've we've gone 6-1-2 against.

To end it... Ottawa has the most hits per game this season... yup sure they'll be good soon enough... and yes Leafs are near the bottom in that category... but you know maybe its because you control the puck a lot... so you don't hit as much?!?!

Also the lowest hitting team this season... Colorado.

Hmmm Ottawa or Colorado... I don't know its a toss up.

So, really your point is, we don't need anything. I think we do.

Its not fake. Just missing literally all context

March 30: Officiating stories with Bruce Boudreau - Sportsnet.ca

Starts around the 6:11 mark.

Rough Transcription of 6:11 mark:

Host: If you're the coach and Dubas asks you what you need, how do you answer?

Boudreau: Well it's tough, they've played well all year. Don't have to look further than Tampa, they thought they needed a bit more sandpaper, got Goodrow and Coleman, and that adds to their talent. On bottom 6 makes them tougher to play against. I like the speed of Leafs bottom 6, I think if you could add the tenacity and toughness without losing speed, I think the team could be much better.

If that's it it's not as inflammatory as OP made it out to be. I see where Boudreau is coming from, but I'd still prioritize getting a top 6 scorer. He's not wrong, he just has a different approach than has been rumoured.

A coach who won a cup recently, unlike the Leafs.

Which Cup is that? Certainly not Stanley

Not like he's way off base, but every team has vulnerabilities, it just seems these criticisms seem to be levelled at the Leafs more than all other teams combined. Even the mighty TB Lightning would be in some difficulty if they had to rely on McBackUp.

Surefire way to get mentioned in the hockey world - trash the Leafs

Leafs/Dubas raised their toughness level this summer from non existent to league average. Now they could use a few more pieces to put them over the top in the toughness/size department.

Did he though? I still see our captain get drilled by Kassian with no response, Matthews get cross checked and hacked with no response, our goalies get run with no response. Where is the push back?

...maybe these "tough players" don't do what you think they do?
