Got to attend this one as well. Very enjoyable.

The Rangers played better on Monday, but they weren't bad tonight. Hank was locked in - so positionally sound. Staal was a beast too, really happy for him.

Vesey is so frustrating. I think he sucks, but then I compare him to all the other awful players in the league that are worthless and none of them pull off the occasional toe drag like Vesey. Glad he got on the board because he's clearly a talented player and could be a solid 20-20 guy down the line. I think he needs to stop hanging out with Hayes.

I`m not sure how good we will do this weekend with 1 line + 1/2 3rd line - thx. god that Vesey scored two goals tonight with total of 6 pts. so far this season, and Henrik found his game and climbing related to save percentage above 90%. :)
AV need to do some changes here.

Neither Kampfer or Holden has played well enough individually and on their respective pairings for Smith to continue to be unfairly punished.

Vigneault really doesn't approach personnel is a rational way. We're winning so we're just going to make no changes until we lose?

Give Nash credit. He's solidifying his reputation as a good defensive forward, and some teams might view his less-than gaudy stats as a byproduct of Buchnevich's hot start.

Nash still has 25-30 goal potential. I just don't think it'll ever happen with this team. Trade him and just get a reliable checker plus high picks in return.

And can you imagine Kevin Hayes playing for Mike Keenan? Amazes me how long a rope AV gives him. Good passer. But makes bad decisions and looks like he's going through the motions every shift.

Yes, I agree with you, @Steve Kournianos - hopefully we can move Nash. I`ve been so frustrated on this line the last games, and I decided this morning I will not watch the whole Rangers game on Saturday since I`m going out instead. It`s not worth being frustrated on the coach especially not in the weekend. And I don`t expect AV to do anything due to the W - not that the Hayes line did anything based on the victory - except Nash`s open net goal in the end which was a great pass by Ryan Mc.

Vesey had such a rope too in his 5 first games, and we lack depth this season. I just hope we avoid injuries if we have any plans to reach playoffs.

What was unfairly with sitting Smith? The guy worked hard to get a contract and then partied all summer and showed up in horrible shape.

On top of that, we start the season clearly unable to achieve the most fundamental things necessary to have a chance to win a hockey game in this league. I don’t get why people are trashing Holden and Kampfer. Skjei-Smith was a horror show at times the first games — H&K plays up to standard to enable us to compete, not lose when they are on the ice. Is it pretty? Of course not. But I see little need to trash them. They actually get pretty tough shifts.

It’s when you have a functioning team that you can start to work in kids and put them in an environment where they can succeed. If anything, I think AV should be called out for — de facto — starting the season with way too many kids and being very naive. How on earth could he try to play Skjei and a really out of shape Smith in a shut down role? Shatty with McD? Tony DeAngelo on a team that was a complete mess? A 17 y/o in Chytil? Hank is old and can’t carry this team anymore. There isn’t a coach in pro hockey who if they got a shot at a do over that wouldn’t make drastic changes to AVs season opening roster, right?

A suggestion for AV swap Vesey & Zucc next game - promote him since he scored 2 goals.

Nash - Hayes - Vesey
Miller (David) - David D. (Miller) - Zucc

Zucc is struggling playing on a shutdown line vs other team top lines all the time - get him on the third line. Miller have similar hockey IQ as D. Brassard - so we can at least have two good productive lines.
And Hopefully Graber - Nieves - Fast can start producing again too - very positive about that.
Besides Zucc have -8 so far - that means he struggle more than usual with defensive tasks, and Lindy Ruff might be the reason for that new and different system/tasks compare to last year.

And use Miller in offesnive zone face offs - win the puck and start plays instantly is a win win for both David & Zucc.

Those 2 SUCKED for the first few games...then they kinda have found a groove.

Chemistry is a real thing. It takes time to build. AV's insistence on line mixing adds even more time.

Those two have come around a bit, and you can't really argue with the fact that Shattenkirk is leading defenseman in scoring, but their defensive zone play still gives me agita. I can think of at least two turnovers from that pair last night that led to really good chances.

They have some games in hand, but hey they're a playoff team again.

Also, I get that McDonagh hasn't been perfect at times, but where the **** was this criticism in 15-16 when he was actually awful?
This board is two years behind. In two years they will start to see that we had a good team in 17-18 and proclaim that this should have been the year we won the cup despite the fact that half our fanbase would sell the entire team right now for a few first rounders to tank and rebuild.

Good times, eh?

Kevin Hayes, just like Pavel Buchnevich (up until 3 weeks ago) needs to start shooting the puck. Look at how much more aggressive and dominant Buch has looked when he's a threat to dangle you, set up a play, or just rip a wrister from anywhere on the ice. PB has been playing some of the best hockey of any Rangers forward in a long time.

Re: Hayes, I think he's a braindead moron, but the dude has amazing puck control skills and can stretch the zone laterally very well with passing and spacing. The only problem is that he's often the one with the puck in these scenarios and will always look to set up the perfect play rather than making the simple one. We all love NHL18 style cross-crease tap-ins, but you can't always try to force them out of nothing. He's like 8th in shot attempt generation on this team. He's been much better in other areas of the ice, but I'd really like to see him start generating more shots.

If the Rangers were as hot for Duchene as.has been reported, it seems to me that management no longer views Hayes as the number two center. I wonder if he was part of the Ranger offer.

Poor Smith is basically in jail

Yea he's been kind of invisible lately

Ya know what's funny? I literally thought the same exact thing the second that Bobby Mac dropped that tidbit. Were they offering someone like Hayes and Graves? I'm just happy that Gorton took a strong stance that Skjei wasn't going anywhere.

This is why I really want to snag a kid like Leivo or Soshnikov out of Toronto. Both are industrious and have some good skill. They'd be a nice complementary piece for a kid like Hayes

Honestly Staals been anywhere from average to good pretty much this entire season. He's been fine.

If you told me the above statement was true at this point in the year, I would have told you we'd have the top record in the NHL.

Staal was my biggest concern.

AV has really screwed up a lot this year and its really hurt the team...good that we're getting a bit more stability in the lines, though i really hate DD being in the lineup...Carey is meh. 2 guys i'd look to improve on. Chytil+Boo
