Not trying to be too cocky, but after watching G1, it’s hard not to feel extremely confident Boston closes this out in 4 or 5.

Flu bug running through the locker room, several players that were out for stretches trying to shake off the rust(Hall, Krejci, Foligno, Forbort), and no #1 center. And yet Bruins win without playing even close to their potential.

That’s fair, at times I felt we were holding our own but the truth is Boston was better overall even with a weak goal by Lyon you also gave up a weak give away which Tkachuk still had to capitalize on and he did. We continue to take stupid penalties because we’re simply not as deep.

I think the main concern for us Panthers fans is not even goaltending anymore. Again, even with that weak goal, Lyon made some great saves throughout the game. Our biggest gripe is our C…. Complete no show. And this is not the first playoffs he’s done that. Great player but we’re starting to doubt if he’s made for the playoffs. His passive nature is really getting to me….

Whatever, game 1, let’s see how this plays out but yeah not looking good.

I think your team would be best utilizing their speed and skill, instead of trying to play a physical game.

Bruins seem to have more trouble against faster teams.

There's like two Barkov's. The regular season Barkov who's pretty dominant most of the time and can be a difference maker. And then there's playoff Barkov who is basically a 3rd line defensive specialist, and he wasn't even that last night.

The Panthers looked very timid to me most of the game. And Boston looked like they were off of their game most of the game. So I think it evened out. Reminded me of the Lightning/Panthers first round series from a couple years ago.

Really? The one from 2 years ago? Cuz I can’t remember any other one. No way dude! That series was electrifying from the moment the puck dropped. Unlike last year’s.

Yup - you forgot:

- peaked too early
- not nearly as good as their record indicates
- luckiest team ever during the regular season as all the bounces went their way
- Colin Campbell helping out his kid.........oh wait - that's from 2011. :sarcasm:

Yea but don’t forget Jeremy Jacobs still has bettman in his pocket, why do you think the bruins got favorable calls in games 4 and 5 and won the cup over snt Louis in 2019?

I would have agreed to that in the past, but the bruins aren't slow anymore either, if the Panthers start skating hard gryz can sub in for forbort and the teams got some foot speed

I think Boston is going to run away with this series. They are just too strong. Watching them last night, they are just so in sync. It is going to be difficult for any team to beat them this season.

The Panthers made it so difficult to make the playoffs and I still have the Bruins winning in 5 games. However, they (Florida) fully impressed me last night and should get some better puck luck if they keep getting those chances in the dirty areas. The problem for them is the PK and I see the Panthers being overly physical throughout the series as they were two years ago against the Lightning. Too much physicality is asking for the refs to call some iffy penalties against you and if they can't stop Bruins PP, then this will be a short series. In terms of Boston, they should consider that win a blessing last night. Their defensive core was shredded in front of their net by the Panthers' forecheque and "in the paint" forwards. They gotta clean that up for Game 2 or you're making it a lot tougher on yourselves in this series. Lyon for how good he was last night, can't allow those types of goals asthe second one for the Bruins. He stopped like four 2-on-1s and allows that thing, must-kill confidence on the bench. Whatever the case is Panthers have to upgrade their defensive core in the offseason even if they somehow win the Cup this season.

i swear Florida has been playing really good hockey lately should make this more interesting but I mean I wouldnt be surprised if Boston sweeps them
I did say earlier that I could see Boston losing but now after game1 and Bergeron was out too I dunno lol

I will never get over that contract that Florida gave Bobrovsky. Talk about DOA. One of the worst contracts in the history of the NHL. Not just the player, but the position, the concept - Everything.

And then to draft Spencer Knight immediately after...

Jesus.

Dale Tallon’s final “gift” to the franchise.

The Bruins GDT was not pleased with that chant.

Hopefully it doesn't happen tomorrow. Willing to chalk it up to a very lubed up crowd thanks to the Patriots Day holiday
I was at the game and not all of the Bs fans were chanting. Some were chanting that before the playoffs. It is probably the same fools who chant "USA,USA".

I don't like it, but it is what it is.

The Panthers did impress me last night, their goalie as others have stated played a very solid game. They also did a good job of smothering the B's any time we got the puck in their defensive zone. They just let up a few too many odd man rushes.

Not that I want the B's to lose, I still think its too early to be doom and gloom for a Florida fan, though I've seen how Boston fans react when we lose a playoff game as well :).

I thought the Bruins forwards looked a little sluggish and Florida clearly came out with a gameplan to wear them down physically. That first period was electric from puck drop.

I don't even think the Cats strategy or their execution was even particularly bad, to be honest, save a little penalty trouble. But Boston is so good at boxing guys out of the front of net and protecting the slot. It's so hard to get a quality scoring chance on them, and when you do, you've got to find a way to beat Ulmark.

Florida's strategy was to win a sprint not a marathon.

Volume shots, volume hitting. Rather than focusing on quality of either.

By the 3rd period they exhausted themselves.

It was pretty bad.

Bruins GDTs are usually very critical of other teams fans when they start chants or sing along to songs. Its usually filled with Bruins fans complaining that everything another fanbase does is cringy.

Yesterday was a good reminder for them that their fanbase is no better than any others.

Generally agree with you but this rarely if ever happens.

Panthers are a work in progress. Zito will continue to bring in more Tkachuk type players. We tried to be a fast run and gun team and got eliminated 2 years in a row by Tampa.
