That was kinda a microcosm of FL’s early season. Right in the game, maybe even getting “the better” of the play. But, while creating chances, they aren’t super high danger and struggle to score. Also showed why their goalies‘ stats can look so bad. They may not give up a lot of shots, but when they do, oh boy it’s a really good chance. 2 on 1s off of turnovers....ad nauseum.
gonna have to do some things much better, or FL will be close but no cigar for 4 games straight.

Panthers looked like they can play with the Bruins. But they were giving their 100% and Boston was probably at 75%.

Boston will win this in 5:

Panthers will find a way to win one game. Boston will win at least one game by 4 goals. And two other games will look relatively close like tonight.

That’s the best you can hope for the Panthers. Boston is just on another level

that was about 50% (there is a stomach bug going through the room)

Reminds me of how Boston use to play a few years ago. They would carry play for long stretches and out shoot their opponent by a ton, but the other team would keep everything to the outside and low scoring chances. Then the Bruins would give up a bad goal and the tide would flip

Great game! Boston always just seems to be in the right position to prevent good scoring chances and Lyon made some incredible saves.

I get the fans are excited, but anyone else think it was pretty dum that they were chanting "we want the cup" like 15 minutes into the first period?

The Bruins GDT was not pleased with that chant.

Hopefully it doesn't happen tomorrow. Willing to chalk it up to a very lubed up crowd thanks to the Patriots Day holiday

Yeah it's cringey, and our board is unanimously against it. But it's still not not as cringey as a "planning the parade" thread in December.

It was pretty bad.

Bruins GDTs are usually very critical of other teams fans when they start chants or sing along to songs. Its usually filled with Bruins fans complaining that everything another fanbase does is cringy.

Yesterday was a good reminder for them that their fanbase is no better than any others.

Not , it’s what fans do. And any other teams fan base would be saying the same thing if their team just broke the all time points and wins record. There would be something wrong with them if they didnt.

I think Florida played a very good game. Despite how many odd man rushes they gave up, I thought they played a good game defensively and didn’t let Boston go to work in their zone. Offensively it was a slog for Florida though. Nothing off the rush. If they think they are gonna win four games by throwing pucks on net from the point and hope to get lucky, they are gonna have to make many sacrifices to the hockey gods.

It was certainly a crowd that had a lot of people that started hitting the sauce early.

Yeah, this is Florida's best chance to do damage, half the Bruins roster is sick right now. If that's the best they can do against a weakened opponent this is probably gonna end in 4.

And sick or not, a team like Boston will get better as the series goes on. Panthers were probably at their best in game 1.

I think it's inevitable for the Panthers to fall appart at some point and that's why I'm expecting at least one game where Boston will win by a big score. Something like 6-1.

Lyon made some great saves but if Frederic could shoot the puck harder than a 15 year old it would have been 5-1
Velocity had nothing to do with it, he fired right into Lyons leg pad on the first one and the on the second one he fired it right into his glove. (i don't think his glove hand even moved as he came across)

whats dumb about it? a of wound up excitable fans with expectations.

believe i've read on here multiple times how if the Bruins don't win the cup its potentially the biggest choke job in sports history after the season they had.

So fans at game one had some fun...... nothing wrong with that.

in all honesty, is there ever a good time to chant that? it is what it is

Ullmark a big factor there. As he has been all season. If he falters at all, I won't say they're in deep trouble, but that could swing it the other way. .940 SV% on the season, and highest PDO by far. Bruins PDO was further ahead of the #2 team, than #2 was to #21.

Yeah, we would have to resort to using our other goalie who was also top 5 in league sv%. We would be SCREWED!
